Thread: ID Change, Stat Migration

Sorry, I don't like the requirement for ID's to do Stat Migration. I thought it was kind of a nice part of Character Personalization and the constant changes a character goes through made it ness. I talked to some fellow guild'ies and some of them paid 10k to get the changes done. I guess that's not bad but I still think a requirement for a ID for Stat Migration is a little dumb. On a sensable side, what's an ID have to do with Stat Migration anyway? I don't think much but there's my opinion so HIT IT FLAMERS!!

Simple. It has everthing to do with stats. Your stats are just another facet of you as an avatar. Your Health, Action and Mind are *combat* stats but they define you as a person just as much as your eye color, your hair color or your height. We are the masters of body modification and alteration. In short we have *everything* to do with your stats, combat and otherwise.

I can see Medics and Doctors in this capacity also, but I really doubt they want yet more to do.

Although I don't really care that ID's can do this (just the fact that ONLY they can do this), I disagree that stat migration has anything to do with them. Health, action, and mind may define you as a person, but is not necessarily something that is able to be determined visibly (image). You can have a great physique, but not necessarily be very strong. You can also look like you've eaten too many twinkies, but can throw weight around like nobodies business (think NFL linemen).

ID's are the plastic surgeons of the galaxy. They can make you look good, but just because they made you skinny, or put in some pec or butt implants, it don't make you any stronger. Increasing strength, stamina, etc., would fall under a more scientific approach to medicine. This is where the Bio-Engineer comes in. This is the person that would know how to alter physical attributes using engineered implants or by making changes at a genetic level. This is how you can have a stick figure physique and be stronger than an ox. And then there is the ability to become stronger by working out at the gym, or becoming smarter by studying and so on. Of course it's going to take a bit of time (the time encompassed by self stat migration). So, to answer the original poster, you do have a very valid point. But, in terms of throwing the ID's a bone, they chose to throw them this one, and I'm cool with that.

Unfortunately for everyone involved, the DEV's have forced everyone to HAVE to visit ID's. Now ID's are catching a lot of flak for something they didn't ask for (complete control of Stat Migration), when they only wanted the ability to give players a means to instantly migrate if they wanted to avoid a day or more wait to migrate naturally. If only it was done this way, there would be much rejoicing from us all.

I have a few words, once an ID hits bodyform 4 he gets a title of personal trainer. This has been in the game since the inception of the image designer. Wouldn't a personal trainer be able to alter the physique of their customers? Now I'm not sure about the mind stat... but this is just food for thought.

i agree, what does a glorified "quear eye for a twilek" have to do with how physically fit you are? on the other hand anyone who can make you taller or skinnier has some kind of god like power, why not be able to make you stronger or weaker or smarter? but i think this should not be ID alone, make it so if you want it done fast and not wait the 72hrs for stats to migrate. then pay the ID to migrate them. dont totally lay that on one class for something so personal as that.

Since an ID can change whatever we have as an option upon character creation its not so strange that Stats Migration is part of it. They can change and much more than a player can at char creation and this is yet another perk that will reflect that.

Whether it makes sense has to be seen. Much has not made sense in Star Wars galaxies.

For my two credits worth put stat migration back into the players abilities or make it so anyone with any level of id even entertainers can make the change.

It's a vote. ID's have nothing to do with Stat Migration. Though secretly I think they agree. I've had my stats migrated twice since this post was last read and they haven't charged me though they may now...lol....In any case, it needs to go somewhere else. And again, I agree - I think the Doc's and such have enough content but the designer gods are reaching with stat migration to the ID's.

Dear George,

i've been a nice player, so for my next patch i'd like :

"Tatoo artist"to allow us to tatoo everybody, not only zabrak, and even starships

and "Plastic Surgeon"to make us an elite medical class

and "Massage Master"tobe included in the game

and "Easy Millionaire" too, while i'm at it.

thank you, i'll leave some brandy by the chimney.

I don't like the idea of being the only way to do stat migration, but this isn't a very good arguement. First of all, it is the HAM system that makes it so you have to lose some stats to gain others. This doesn't have to do with *any* professions. Second, it makes at *least* as much sense as being able to do some professions better by putting magic tapes into my clothes or having my combat character kick a rancor in the foot and having it fall over. This is a game and not everything has to be realistic or make sense!

Actually I like the way it is. I am not an ID, nor an ent. But the only other choice I see is to remove stat migration from the game, IDs need things to do, so why not give it to them? It is definitely overpowered to give it to players themselves.
