Looky looky! I mastered ID in 1.5 hours! BAH!

What can I say. Some people don't realize that for some professions that "master" is more than just a title over your head. At least these are the people who will mess themselves up and then move on to some other profession. What always gets me are the people who think they are experts because "I was once a master image designer (or tailor or whatever)" when what they mean is that they ground through and kept it for a day or two before they went on to the next profession.

You know…maybe we don't need to slow down skill progression. Maybe what we need is an Expert Master Image Designer title. If you've been a Master Image Designer for more thanX months, and performedY number of changes to someone who isn't you, you get the title.

If they had to stick their hands in your pants for "measurements", I think something's wrong.

....then again, if you LET them do it, that can't say much for you either.... :-P

;-)

Sorry, you left yourself open to that.

I came across a guy who had very high level tailored items on that looked hideous!! I asked him who his tailor was, and he said that he had made the items himself on his brother's account when his brother ground through tailor. Ugh, like a baby with an electron microscope.

If it makes you guys feel any better I have been trying to Master Image Designer and have taken about 3 hours so far to get to 3/1/2/1. Admittedly I was assigned this profession by the holocron but I wouldn't dream of belittling those people who enjoy this profession and know how to really use it. I just try my best not to screw up my guildies images and myself. (So far I have fouled uptwoof them that I have worked on. Doh! Luckily I was able to fix them back to how they were.) Don't worry about me taking any business away from those of you who really enjoy this. In fact if anything I would probably create more customers for you if they allowed me to work on them.

Be sure and read down far enough that ID gets called a trivial career. That just made my day.

Bah! Just ignore them!

Likely any profession you spend less than 2 hours in will seem trivial.

I bet it's not so trivial if they want a change and can't find any IDers.

Okay, maybe I'm a bad person for doing this, but…I was on my way to Dathomir for a little hunting when I heard a Master Image Designer shouting offers for service. I know, should have been a warning sign at once, but I figured I could change it back anyway, so why not? So I explained to her that Eicia had just broken up with her IC boyfriend (true) and that she now felt like a new woman (true) and wanted to look like a new woman to reflect that (true), but she didn't know what that new woman looked like yet (true). I asked her to make me her idea of the perfect Zabrak. Maybe that's where I went wrong… Anyway, I accepted every change without even looking at it—I just trusted her. Didn't even look at myself when I tipped her—although I did notice the hideous horn pattern as I was hitting enter—and walked away 35K credits poorer. My friends say what she had done and…well, let me ask you: is a middle age(she set age to 1), acne-ridden (she set freckles to the one that really looks like chicken pox or something), flat-chested (she changed Eicia from -75 to 26) Zabrak your idea of perfect? Not mine. Needless to say, as soon as I was out of visual range from her, I was changing myself back.

For such a trivial profession I seemed to be in great demand last night in Theed. I logged in, jumped to Theed and for the next 2 hours had a line of people waiting for my services. Some of them waited as long as a half an hour just to get a single change that took me all of about 5 seconds. Looks like most people don't consider us useless or trivial.

Before Holo's I'd have to take off my Master ID tag 30-45 minutes before I had to log because I had a queue that big *every* time.

I average 4-8 ID requests an hour, which surely isn't trivial in my book. =)
