Thread: Concept for new ability: Crafting mannequins

Hi my fellow ID's,


I hope this idea hasn't been brought up already, I didn't find it neither in the Tailor nor in the ID Top 5.


Being a tailor as well as an ID, I thought about the following idea: When decorating a shop, a tailor always like to show clothes, which he/she does usually by dressing the vendors. But as those are limited and clothes are so many to show, it would be sure nice for tailors to have mannequins. Now, my idea would be:



  • Granting Master Artisanthe ability to craft a mannequin, specifing race and gender.
    This would give Artisans something new to craft, they don't have much useful things anyway. Should be possible tocraft all player races.

  • Granting Master Image designer the ability to change the look of a mannequin.
    Our part, could be done just like player ID. Would be a nice interaction between tailors and image designers too and we would be able to sell something

  • Granting Master Tailor the ability to dress a mannequin and placing it in a shop.
    It would look much better than placing the clothes themselves. And it would have a positive effect on item limits in a house. Instead of using 5 items in a house to show shoes, pants, shirt, vest, belt, it would use just 1 for the mannequin. I think it should not given to all players, as we would see mannequins all over the places, in cantinas, private houses etc. On the other hand, it would allow players to have some kind of NPCs, which couldadd some ambience to buildings. What do you think - I'm not really sure about that.

I'd be happy about some constructive feedback. I think it would give some nice interaction between artisans/image designers/tailors.


I have posted this to the ID forum, because the main part would be ours for the ability to change the way the mannequins would look.

i wouldnt even mind giving it to all players. I know of several ppl who have broken outfits that they love to show off but are of no use to them anymore so they simply hang it up on a wall somewhere. it would be great for structures in PCities such as cantinas, med centers, guild halls, and city hall. would be even nicer if you could "adjust the mannaquin" to a sitting mode where once placed they would float in the air as if sitting on a chair then you could slide a chair or couch underneath of them (would also be able to give the apearance of multiple seats on a couch /woot). I do think that any items given to a "mannaqin" should not be retrievable ... just as adding items to vendors. and i love the idea that a fully clothed mannaqin would only take one item slot rather than slots for each individual items. I sell "Star Wars Hero Outfits" and display each of the outfits in my shop. I currently have 18 outfits and am in the process of adding 4 more to that ... do you have any idea how many items that counts towards my house? LOL ...this would be like a dream come true for me. hehe ... especially if you could have the creator custom name them ... that way I could have a relaxed lobby type area with Boba Fett - Bounty Hunter, Jango Fett - Bounty Hunter, Luke Skywalker - Casual, Luke Skywalker - Combat - Jedi, Sith, Darth Maul - Dark Jedi Apprentice, Aura Sing - Bounty Huntress, ect just sitting or standing around modeling their duds that I sell. OMG OMG OMG ... i love it. woot ... someone go make this happen pretty please?

i would really really love to see this in the game. this would be perfect for my tailor store since i have now up to 21 complete "outfits" that i sell and have to display.

Its something ive been wanting to have for awhile personally, as i like to make little scenes useing NPC in my city however thanks to the Merchant Nerf you can only place 1 not activated NPC vender.


I would love this and could go along way in Imersion of the game

I like the idea of mannequins... though to balance against the vendors and differentiate from the player event tool placeable npcs perhaps they shouldn't look like people and literally just be the bare shell? Torso, legs, arms, etc that can be assembled as required?

You can't dress them before placing them anymore either... anyone know WHY they did this? What was the harm of using vendors that had not been initialized as decorations?

sorry, i have to agree kyorlana. I am a merchant so i deal with the vendor issues every day. but i have to say that for my shop in particular, i would love to have them be identical to vendors only they would have a crafted name thus being dicernable fromvendors in the fact that all vendors names start off with "Vendor: Name". The only other difference i would make is that I would allow mannaquins to be made in 2 different styles ... sitting or standing, or allow them to be posable in those two stances. I even want them to have the natural twiches. But if this is not feesable, then a single colored shell posable in sit/stand stances would be okay. but that would eliminate any ID interaction with them.

It isnt the tailor top five no, but beleive me it has been talked about and recommended and asked for.

the main reason is we would love to display clothing as it would wear on each species and gendor..not just some default drop on the floor

{even the generic 'server is loading' look that our toons get would be great.

If we cant choose the look or color or size, the base models we see at the time are perfect, still species , still gender.

I would perfer something that doesn't move.

And would even pay for upkeep of one as we do vendors to have something that takes clothes AND gives them back}

If you search the tailor forumI am sure you will find several of the links, it isnt top five stuff because well,

top five if for what we desire most as a whole, so alot of ideas are set aside to fill a lower slot on want list til upper ones are done.

Same as merchant, we post, list, vote, recommend, submit, wiat, wait, wait, did I say wait?, yeah wait.

I think craftable "wigs" that players can purchase in any style or color (of course race /gender specific)


Either purchase directly from an ID or off a vendor


Have them have decay as well and unuseable ater it decays or maybe good for only 5 uses?


Maybe have the stats look like this new condition= 5/5 worn 3 times 2/5 unequipable at 0/5 then take it to an Id to get them to make you a new one if its one you want matched


Or maybe give them a wig repair kit that they can only use to repair the stats?

Mannequins would be a really kewl idea!


Either that or give ID's the ability to ID vendors.
