Thread: Premature Overreaction?

Is it just me, or does it seem like to some degree everybody is overreacting to the patch?

For example, the furor about not being able to stat migrate by yourself anymore. I agree that it might not have been the best implementation... But really, how often do you stat migrate? I have migrated my stats four times in the past 6 months (two of which was just shifting a few points around to try something, then going back to my original configuration). Really, are you really going to be shifting your stat pool around so much that this will cripple your bank? And will spending an hour or two to find an image designer (which we might have more of now that it is more economically feasible) ruin your game? And if they really had let us keep self-stat shifting, seeing how it takes days to get any substantial change, would you ever have really done it yourself? (Keep in mind these are the same players who can't wait 15 minutes for you to image design somebody else before them.)

And as for the timer, I'm not an image designer, but really is it *that* bad? The system just hit live today (and a few hours at that). How many people here have given it a fair judgment in a real image designing session before you came here and complained about it? (I know it was on TC, but we all know that the people and interaction on TC are different than on live.) I think the idea of having some dead time to talk to a client sounds reasonable, and that it might work out. (I know when I go to my ID and have a "quick change", the actual selection and change takesone or twominutes, and the surroundingconversation goes on for 30 or more minutes.)

And as for taking 60 hours to master the class, yes, this is bad. However, Runesaber said that this would be examined in the coming days on the server, and I think we should give the devs the benefit of the doubt on this. (I say this because if I were designing this, I wouldn't know how many changes an image designer would do on a regular basis, so would need some information from a live system before balancing the exact numbers.) For that matter, it could be they are changing it so all classes take a "long time" to master, and image designers happened to be first. (If doctor took 40 hours of game time, would that still make image designers feel bad, or is it just because currently ID happens to be so much longer than all classes except bounty hunter and maybe bio-engineer from what I hear.)

I agree that complaints can and should be voiced. However, the system hasn't been live for 24 hours yet, and look how many posts have been posted complaining aboutthe newsystem. Do you think the devs will revert these changes due to a gut reaction? And since the system has only been live for a few hours, the reactions we are seeing right now are gut reactions to how people think the system will work, rather than real experiences with real customers.

I'm sure that in the coming days and weeks, the various figures will be reexamined and changed. Until then, can't we all give these changes a fair chance before we condemn them? The system may be worse, or may be better than what we used to have. Until we try it out though, who is to say?

(I shudder to think of the combat revamp, when classes will bechanged for the "good of the game", and the reaction of all the combat classes who are used to getting 2500 buffs in their 80% armorand soloing kryats...)

not meant as a flame but it doesnt take a rocket scientist to do the math on times it takes to master professions and see that having ID mastery (thanks to timers) taking 5 times longer than any other profession is hardly fair to the newbs wanting to be a ID.

if there is not a loud complaint they wont look at the times and adjust accordingly. thats why we even the folks that have no interest in becoming a ID voice out against it. i got my ID profession badge a long time ago so the grind time is only going to affect me indirectly in that there will be a lack of real ID in the future.

stat migration thing irks me because it is something that if it was that important to be a ID perk should have been there from day one not a year later. i aplaud the 10 minute migration but the choice shouldnt have been taken away. that is the aggravating point of it. i wouldnt have minded doubling the time it takes for natural migration and letting ID migrate. would have been fine. its just irritating that the reason was to FORCE social interraction. being treated as a lab rat in a social experiment is what i object to.
