Thread: Is anyone else feeling rather apathetic?

I haven't had much energy to post lately, let alone play. Part of this is because our DSL is down until next week, so we're being forced to resort to dialup. And part of it is because of this stupid one-star ninja that's been one-starring everything (literally EVERYTHING, check out all my posts) I have ever written. Although, I turned off my ratings again and that's helped. But... I just don't feel very ambivalent toward the game right now. I have no desire to log in and putter around, doing exactly the same things I always do. I'm looking forward to doing the Jedi quests on Fuschia, but that seems such a long way away.

To be honest, I'm considering taking a break from the game for at least a little while. Therejust isn't much to keep me entertained right now. *shrug* Anyone have any suggestions? And is anyone else feeling this way too?

You know, I actually went through this myself recently, but it was mostly due to my guild essentially dissolving and moving onto other games, and getting a little tired of stat migrations. My advice is to take a break. It's just a game, it's not supposed to feel like work. I played sparingly over a month or two, and gave myself time to enjoy some other games that have been collecting dust. When I got back, I felt a little better, but I fled to Mos Eisley to avoid the migrations. Thanks to the trial accounts, a lot of people there aren't concerned with opening jedi slots, but just enjoying themselves. It's a much nicer atmosphere. If all that fails... well, worry about that if it does.

Thanks for the advice so far. I rather like Shako's idea. "No, really, purple is IN right now! VERY manly."

Fuschia,

I have gone through this a couple of times. The first time I made an alt char. on another server where noone knew who I was and where I was. I did this because I was a very highly demanded tailor. I got so swamped I didn't have time to breathe let alone actually play. Taking the break away from the server helped. However, the alt. char. over time because my main char.hehe. Maybe it's the atmosphere you are currently in. If it's not, then maybe you should just log off for a month, go outside, take in a movie, etc....

Also, another thing you can do is sit down, make a list of everything you haven't done in game and do them. Go see a POI you missed, Go to the races, visit a planet you haven't been to in a long time, etc...

I hope this helps!

Try a new profession... that is what I do when I get bored.

Or I go putter around on another server.

BTW, I am easily bored.

I agree with the start a alt on another server. I did this and found the game picked up for me a bit. Beware though, you may get attached to it and the friends you make there. Now I spend my time 50/50 between the two servers. If that doesnt keep someone busy I dont know what does lol.

Also if your factioned, try being the opposite faction on your alt server. If your a crafter be a melee. Do a dr jeckle ms's hide hehehe roleplay it some.

I have felt the same way since publish 8...maybe even sooner.I am waiting on publish 10 to see if I'm even going to keep my accounts. This game has a lot of potential, but it has also had a lot of disappointments. I don't think I've ever played a game that I hated as much as I loved.

This is my first RPG ever, & the thing I really liked about it was creating my own unique characters, which was why I became an ID early on. But it takes more than cool characters & onlinefriends to keep me interested. I don't believe grinding is entertainment, & I am getting tired of all the nerfs & time sinks that are designed to keep usplaying longer. Making the game fun would be more effective.

FushiaD,

I know exactly how you feel, but as others stated allready: This is only a game! Try something new, or different, dye wookiees purple and don't care about some stupid punk that seems to have soooooo much grief, that he feels the urge to rate all posts with one star only. Or maybe the person in question is only totally dump, but actually I don't care... I havn't turned off my ratings, but I dont really care for em that much either. I care for the posts only and to have fun with this game and my fellow players.

May the Force be with you all!

I've lost a lot of my motivation for playing any of my characters. I've been doing a lot of reading lately; discovered a couple of new authors so it's worked out well.

Looks like someone was kind enough to bring up your posts and try to get the ratings off there, so it may not appear as one-starred any more. Although I have seen the damage your stalker has given you. Looks like personal vendetta.

As for apathy, I can relate. My first gal on my main account was a Master Smuggler/Master Tailor, and I burned out pretty easily with her to the point where I didn't even want to log on at all. I was even bored with her race since she was human and only human due to a friend wanting to roleplay siblings.

Once day, I deleted here and never looked back. The game has been a blast since I buried her. I wouldn't recommend doing that for everyone, but sometimes, a change of pace can be good. On that note, send me a cross-galaxy e-mail if you ever want a vacation server. I can hook you up with some credits, a great look, some weapons, and you can come blow stuff up with me.

i have been feeling the same way as of late....i know a lot has to do with the game and the many issues that soe has to work on, but part of it is the people who play. 7 months ago people were wonderful to play this game with and now it's becoming a hassale because they have jedis (which is great for them my hat is off to them) but some are beginning to get stuck on themselves and are treating their friends and guildmates badly....they take advantage and well kinda ruins it for us..and of course there is the fact that we can only do the stat migrations so people are feeling a little bitter towards those of us who are iders....

try another server...if you go to tempest let me know i have a few friends who play there...if you come to wanderhome definitely let me know i will get you some clothes and a new style and will try to help sweetie. good luck hope you feel better about it all...and if you don't want to do any of those things take a month off..pay on everything you have to pay on in the game and take a month to play outside lol...and smell the roses hehe
