It'd be cool if image designers could change someone enough to put them in cognito; even giving them a temporary fake name to use. Smugglers would love this, and so would Jedi who find themselves a little too well-known.

I really wish they made this an option. Its the main reason I'm going ID/Smuggler. I'm hoping one day they make changing your looks necessary.

Yeah... I think it'd be the best way to make Image Designers actually affect gameplay and contribute to other professions. Right now, they're only good for eye-candy, unfortunately.

I'm going ID/Smuggler for the exact same reason, but I'm gonna rp it, even if there isn't an ingame use for it.

When entertaining, I have one look, when out earning xp for smuggler, I have a whole different look. It's really fun, and throws people off, especially when I don't include my title.

Nice to know I'm not the only one wanting something like this incorporated eventually.

Not to mention the value of a name change to someone in trouble, the credits you could charge for this!

Would create abuse issues though, people harassing someone and then changing their name to get away with it.

I was thinking this too. I am a tailor/ID/spy for the same reason. One way around abuse might be to allow us to make people appear as NPCs for a limited time. That way they really would be incognito, but not open the abuse issue due to permanent name changes. Someone will just fade in to the crowd.

ohh, that's a cool idea. Imagine how cool it would be when you're being hounded by idiots for ID and you just want to go out and kill things for a bit.

Change your title, swap your name with an NPC for a minute or two and run out into the world.

ah yeah, this would be nice for say the master image designer.. add in the ability to change a name temporarly, for about 10 or 15 minutes. That would be creative and cool..

i'm with ya.. but not sure how the coding would work. Sounds like a possible headache, with your name being the main ID of yourself to the server. hm.. But i'm just wondering if they could associate an Alias persay to said name.. and have it appear over the head or when targeted. Kinda like these forams.. they allow you to use a "nickname" other than your login name.

So I figure they could do it, probably require some major rework somewhere, and more than likely something that would get put on the back burner for awhile.. So even if they do, do it, we are looking at a minimum of 6 months to a year.

but hey.. good to keep the idea rolling, never know.. someone might concider it.

I don't think it would cause abuse issuses. Character names and items are tied to the account. If the fake name is the product of a false ID card, produced by the imaged designer, then that name can be traced back to the original account. Even if the card is deleted the information is still in the database and could be looked up if the incident is reported in a reasonable time.

It's been awhile since I played, but I'm pretty sure UO had something like this. I would hope SWG could implement it.

Yeah UO used to have this, you could change yourself into an NPC character for a little while, it was really fun, when your friends didnt know it was you.
