Well, I do!

I know I'm not the only one, either. I played a bothan in beta, and loved it. Since I was going TKA for release, a friend convinced me to go Tyrando. Not likeing that so much. Plus, what about the people that want to sell skills and switch to a totally different profession?

Master ID should be able to change species, IMO. I know its a tad bit unrealistic, but so is, say, cloning. A good way to keep people from exploiting it would be to limit the number of times you can do it, to, say, three.

It would be cool, but it would be much harder to implement compared to the other changes most are hoping for. With species change you would have a major problem with stats, would they stay the same, or would it automatically default to some set amount. Also, the special abilities each race possesses like Twi'Leks bonus to healing well dancing or playing an instrument could be a problem. Clothing restrictions for certain races, like Twi'leks with most headwear and Wookie clothing might complicate things. Then, you have the problem about how you will look as the new species. I just don't see this being possible. The ability to change gender, seems even more reasonable when comparing this. It is cool though, don't get me wrong, I just would rather see things like body tattoos and exotic colors for hair, eyes, skin, etc... Seems much less complicated and it would still be a nice add-on to the profession! =^.^=

Koneko has the right of it. I can agree, somewhat reluctantly, about allowing us to do sex changes since nothing stat wise is changed from the male to female switch. But species change is has far too much affect on the game.

I was going to post something similar to this as an idea. I really don't see what the problem would be, all stats are modified racially so merely remove the old racial bonuses and apply new ones, as for the equipment issue have the species change wipe all insurance and clone data and "kill" the character. That way they respawn in the nearest cloning center with no gear and a ton of wounds. Having to rebind/insure and then get your wounds healed should discourage casual use of the ability. Respawning naked means that they don't have to worry about wookies ending up in armor or anything like that.

Right now SWG allows you to remake almost any decision you don't like about your character except for race/sex. If you are a master medic and decide that you want to become a dancer instead youcan butif you decide that you don't want to be a rodian or that playing a female character isn't for you, you are forced to restart. Adding this feature to the Image Designer seems like a natural fit. While it may be odd from a roleplaying point of view it could be incorporated into the cloning concept as an alteration of the clones DNA. To make it more "realistic" you could have it only be done at a cloning center.

At first, when I read this, I was like... huh? Ok, yeah, that'd be cool - but how to incorporate it realistically.

But, Cor, you hit the nail on the head. Incorporate a new crafting station at the cloning center, make it so only a Bio-Engineer with master ID could manipulate genes, allow the person requesting the change to make all the designations on the crafting station, the BE/ID 'signs off' on the change request, and 'voila!' next time the player dies, he comes back as a different species, with all the racial abilities and restrictions in place.

Any insured items would be stored in their backpack, so if they go from something to Wookiee, they wouldn't be wearing inappropriate items.

I definitely think BE should be included, as there isn't anything intrinsic about ID's manipulating the genetics of the customer, just their physical appearance - which is an apparent possibility, though no where demonstrated in the movies... I guess it's in the EU?

Anyway, yeah, once all the rest of the wish-list that should have been incorporated from the beginning is looked at, this should definitely be on the list - even if at the bottom.

Nice idea

But then, the dreaded words, "Critical Failure" appear, and your customer isstuck with a Rodian's head on a Wookie body!

Interesting ideas flyin about here. Only real problem I see is that a name like "Jax Bloodshine" or some masculine sounding name wouldn't exactly go over well with a Twi'lek female dancer I'm think. Otherwise, very good idea.
