Thread: A tentative new skill-gain progression list
I was looking over the "when you get what" in Kwee's guide, and some things seem ridiculous. For example, why on earth is Rhodian frill tip color customizable before novice ID? Why are wookiee colors in 2 separate lines? Why are the least "changeable" body customizations first? Why are lekku marking colors in a different skill line from lekku marking style? Why is eyebrow shape customizable two boxes AFTER eye color? One would think changing eyebrow shape easy. Again, facial hair styles should be easy to change but they too are in ID 4, two boxes after eye color and frill tip color. In addition, the master box items seem like things people want to change frequently - such as skin color.
What I've attempted to do is 1) make the progression make sense 2) make each line self-sufficient and 3) not leave all the "good stuff" for master (b/c right now we *are* prettyhamstrung until master).
See what you think, "new" wish-list items are marked with an asterisk:

Looks good
It was definitely a "huh" moment when Holocron posted the list. There was a change in the last few days of beta, part of which involved moving hair color and makeup to novice entertainer (which I was opposed to, those were my main source of business as an Image Designer). My impression was that they were very rushed and threw it together. There was talk at some point of the wookie fur colors being brought together at some point, did that ever happen? I would want to see some more of the added content we've been throwing around at Master ID, things that would bring usnew and regular businesssuch as:
- Buffing effects of massage - someone mentioned stats that were not yet buffable...
- Some form of temporary disguise - sure it's a tricky business but surely something could be designed
- The ability to ID npc vendors
What would a master Image Designer be able to do with your image.Their abilities should be widely craved! As a (insert species) Image Designer, what is my motivation for tying up my skill points in Master ID? Really all we have there that is in high demand is skin color, and that's not very exciting for those with unexciting skin colors or fur.

Actually, when I was in beta, I thought that makeup was something that you *should* be able to do early, even earlier than hair color, because - if you want immersion and realism, makeup is the easiest to change.
On the other hand - Rhodian Frill tip color? Eye color? Those seem much more difficult.

Ok, I had a "duh" moment there - when I wrote "vendor interface" I really meant "Ability to ID NPC vendors."
I like disguises - maybe using craftables - the better the materials, the longer the disguise lasts...
Massage would be great. The only catch to that one, is that right now dancers/musicians cannot buff themselves, which is a horrible oversight. ID's are so rare that I don't want to seek one out to massage ME.

As much as I agree with this statement, in many SWG professions, the problem is that most people won't even *deal* with a non-master. To discourage the grind I tried to put a lot of the really *cool* stuff in the IV boxes, so there is incentive to become high level in each line, but a non-masterimage designer is not *useless*. I've found that when I was leveling tailor, everyone would come to me and ask for two things: 1) master schematics 2) anything in red (also granted at master box). So there's a tension between making the master title mean something, but at the same time not the end-all-be-all. After all, by the time you get to everything IV, it's really only one more lousy point to train master ID.
I like those first two idea's
Buffing through massage and disguise and would like to be able to register somewhere.
