Thread: ID's become Designers/artist
At first this is not just a crazy idea from a non ID but a way i thought that would make lots of pofessions more interesting.
What would you all think off having more things to do in game. Soon we will all be cruising the planes with bikes. But this won't be long as we gonna have new verhicles afte these basics. What would you all think of having somehing to do with this. We won't want an entire galaxy full of red swoops for example, i want my verhicle to be tuned ![]()
id's could do the paintjob of the car. would you be interested in such a task? or do you prefer the id like it is? without extra new features. Our artisan correspondent thought you all could be able to make drawings as well to hang on the wall ...
after hearing he thoughts about it i would propose something like this
branch1 human design
branch 2 paintjob
branch 3 paintings, sculptures... (art)
branch 4 something like tha architect experimantation tree was befor epatch? or splitting human design up or art design or another idea?
I would like to underline that I ain't a ID so i don't really know what's living among you all. But imo this would make the ID profession more interesting, I would even try it then as it finally became a usefull profession
no offence...

here the idea was formulated the first time
I would even try it then as it finally became a usefull profession
If you have to say 'no offense', you're probably offending someone.
As for the idea, I think it's kind of silly. An Image Designer is many things. Hairstylist, cosmetologist, plastic surgeon, tattoo artist, personal trainer... but not a sculptor or a mechanic. Leave furniture to the architects and vehicles to the artisans.
damm no edit button, i use ID's
so imo they are usefull should have wrote more usefull soz... i didn't say anythin about furniure lol...
i just said maybe they could have the ability to paint a verhicle later on... when new verhicles more diesed verhicles kick in...
the sculptures/paintings where another option that also could be headed...
but thats all in my first post so maybe next time read a little more carefully ![]()
I personally don't think art should be out of the question for image designers. It's what a lot of people think Image Designers do when they first get in to Star Wars Galaxies, anyway. Even working on the body, making plastic surgery-type changes, and doing make-up, can be considered a form of "art".
And if definitely opens up the door for some new skills for us image designers. Especially skills that could be used often, if vehicles faded the same way droids do.

I agree we could be viewed as artists. And I also get a lot of people that are new to the game ask me if Image Designers can do things such as:
1/ Designing PA hall flags or clothing insignias
2/ Converting screenshots into wall art
3/ Changing last names
If the devs are game I agree we shouldnt' limit ourselves to what we can already do. Ourprofession already encompass a great variety of skills, from makeup artist to plastic surgeon. In beta, bio-engineers wanted all of the plastic surgery type stuff to go to them (and I can understand why), but imagine how much worse of a shape we would be in if we had not been granted that. Image Design is a broad term that could be used to describe a variety of abilities and techniques
Where we would run into trouble is in requesting something like vehicle dyeing, given thatmany of the other crafters can dye their creations (droid engineers, tailors, armorsmiths). Something we could maybe get away with would be creating and coloring decals for placing on spaceships, pa hall flags, cloaks/jackets... I had ideas similar to those of the original poster that I posted in beta. At that point I didn't realize there was a branch of Architect called Interior Designer, and a lot of my suggestions were Interior Designer-y in nature. Things like throw pillows, curtains, and rugs
Such a thing would probably step on the toes of Architects, not to mention prob not be allowed as we are not an artisan profession
It might work as a tailor line ![]()
