I think we all can agree the time is takes to become an MID is too long for what we currently can do, BUT maybe the devsdesigned it for what we will be able to do? We have all read our long list of iteams we a wishing for So I ask you What new ID content would be need to make the current exp requirement justified? would partical effects, tattooes and PC tents do enough?

Nothing. There's just nothing they could do that would make the current rate and restrictions fair. Plain and simple, levelling is not possible using our skills on customers, we have to grind, and grinding with the timer is mind numbingly dull.

The time is way out of whack. But the tedium of how you grind is the bigger problem.

To me there are two minium requirements,

  1. Missions (Level based)

  2. More low end content - to increase the fun factor of low level IDs

I know many IDers want a PC building, But personally "if" that building is a tent like we have now in NPC cities, I will not use one. Thus would not consider that as new content nor as a justifcation for the exp requirement.

Yeah, I think it would be great if they addes some type of missions or someting or just TONS of content to make it worth it, but honestly, I can't think of a lot of things that would make the current situation acceptable. That, and knowing that we are probably last on the dev list now, makes it hard to believe that they are going to do a lot of programing to fix the situation.

But how fun would it be to go ID NPC's or something?! And how about an "I ID'd Jabba the Hutt" Badge!

I don't think they could add anything that would make me think that the current time factor is justified. They could add all of the following and I would still think that ID takes too long to master:

  • 20 new (actually usable) hair/frill/ridge/leku styles for each race

  • IDing pets

  • IDing vendors

  • User placeable tent

  • Droid tent module

  • Hair tints (two tone hair styles)

  • 3D facial hair for the guys

  • Rump/Hip Slider for ladies

  • Sex/species change

  • Tattoos for all races, including non-facial ones

Now, don't get me wrong, I'd love to have all of the above, but I think that the amount of time ID now takes to master is simply unreasonable for a casual player.

I agrree. Eleven weeks of casual playing is collosal. Added to the fact that most asspiring ID will be forced to grind, and most novice IDs will get almost all stat migrations for customers. Thatis the same exp for changing your own eye color (I.E. Grinding on yourself) for ten minutes.

The current situation is 100% unacceptable.

In order to justify the current rate of XP gain in the ID profession we would need to be given an "I Win" button. Upon triggering this ability any PvP opponent would instantly be deathblowed and have all their stats 100% wounded. Any missions held by the button-presser would instantly end successfully, and any organics that could have been harvested would be placed in the button-presser's inventory.

Seriously, there's nothing that could be added that would make this system of skillgain justified. It's not so much the overall time, although that is entirely out of keeping with other elite professions, it's the fact that it's so boring, and the fact that there is next to no call for non-master IDs. Regardless of any other changes made, the time to master needs to be reduced to 1/4-1/6 of its current value. More content needs to be moved down the trees to the lower levels, and more new content needs to be added to the upper tiers. See this post and this post for the community's thoughts on the matter—let's not forget that we discussed this in great detail before, and all of that work was ignored, and worse yet, perverted by this new system.

Not going to edit that last because I'll lose the links, but two things I should mention:

  1. Both of those posts are pre-chef revamp. It was not possible to master ID in 30 minutes when they were written. In light of that fact, ID XP gain did need to be addressed, but this change has gone overboard.

  2. When reading the first linked post, keep in mind that Kwee was not yet the ID corre, so the opinions she expresses are her own and are not indicative of the community's feelings at the time, nor are they indicative of any stance she may take when passing along information to the devs. I firmly believe that Kwee has and continues to shelf her own feeling in order to represent us—master and non-master alike—to the best of her abilities. Please do not use any posts she made before being granted the corre position to attack or undermine her now.

they could implement my idea and I might not be as ticked off about the timer as I am. I think Im going to boycot doing Image Design on anyone because the timer is lame.

Myself, I don't know.

The timer is borked at its current rate, given that Image Design has only one "critical" function. That of Stat Migration now.

Appearance changing is a luxury. A bloody fun and good luxury that I like to have, but as it stands. Even with new perks, there's very little reason to go through with it.

The concept/idea behind holo-emotes are a nice step. Player created particle effects.

So in summation, more perks, that are different from our avatar. But honestly, I'm hard pressed to determine how to do that. Perhaps interdependance/function with merchant's vendor function.

I have heard many people ( most of them not IDs ) propose needing to visit an ID to remove yourself from a BH mission.

By the way, that post was in no way an endorsement of the timer or the clock. ( They are not the same thing. )

Hmm, that'd be an interesting idea actually.

Although given that the only way to show up on the BH term is to be a Jedi. I think we'd have some folks yelling their heads off at us about how Vader never visited a Hair Stylist in Clone Wars [and after, especially since it looks like he should have ].
