I think the idea that the timers help bring a respectability to the profession because it's now more difficult to do is, rather succinclty, debunked with this one single post.

I was thinking about becoming a master because it seemed like fun but with that timer and figuring it might take 60 hours to get master which is the only people that get any business.. i mean come on.. that is NOT worth it... who can you even find that wants a change from a novice to even GAIN any xp.. ya sure like I can get a friend to sit there 60 hours when they could be doing something else.. this timer is just GAY.. Just another reason for me to quit SWG.. seems like SOE cant seem to figure out what people really want.. who cares if a master doesnt have to wait? joy that is great news to hear for a novice.. maybe increase the XP ALOT per session, lower the xp a little(ya right) and NO TIMER(YES).. and for my friends that are trying to get jedi i find this pretty unfair, the other jedis that had image designer as a holo didnt have to go through this mess.. this is all soes fault and they just seem to make things worse every update.. sorry thats just what i see

Actually its a pretty good profession. The joke is that everyone wants things as quick as possible, and as cheap as possible. And specifically with SWG that there are a ton of people going for Jedi so sometimes it means doing Image Designer as a profession - and they want that quickly too. It took me about 3 months of IDing to get to Master. Granted I achieved that before the patch but it did take awhile. I rarely used a macro, I IDed myself alot because there were not alot of guinea pigs to help.

I guess what I am saying is I worked at it. I didn't do it in a day. I didn't do it in a week even. I actually worked at it. It was tough then and its tougher now. Well, if I had to do it all over again, I would. It would just take longer is all.

Before the patch, the profession was not that great. I actually enjoy the timer for the most part because I get to do the thing that is sorely lacking in most of these games - socializing, talking and things of that nature. The only talking I see most of the time is constant spam in front of Starports or in cantina, which is more annoying to me than most bugs, being owned or killed when TEF. Its a more like a zombie invasion than a droid one. But I digress.

I am sorry that your friends are in such a hurry to become Jedis. They are missing out on the actual fun of the game by having to do things they don't want to to achieve that goal.

Ok first of all you seem like one of those holo grinders who wants to master everything in two days, a joke. FIRST, you CAN ID yourself and even though you only get half the xp guess wht you could be doing in the meantime while waiting for someone else to ID? And they made the prof a lil harder to master...so WHAT?!? Not everything comes easy and maybe this profession can teach you a lil lesson about that. Also if you aren't going to do the prof STOP COMPLAINING.

^^^^

seems like someone is on a really high horse today. either that or a booster chair. i think the latter.

now, try to advance through your "chosen" profession and tell me how much you like it. it not so much about wanting to master it in 2 days, its more about not wanting to take as FEW as a FULL WEEK played nonstop morning till night or up to 6 MONTHS!!!! casual gaming.

say, would you like a chocolate pretzel Red?

6 months getting a profession night and day when you could just master tkm in several hours and do 32k missions on dantooine making 1 mil an hour.. this profession is 100% not worth the trouble.. you wont ever get taht 100 hours back wasted achieving something that most masters will do for free anyway

Erm. well the same is more or less true for any game.

You won't get back the time you put into, and you really don't get that much out of it, except the opportunity/ability to spend more time.

Although there is a fair and reasonable point. Because of the [very significant] advancement time difference, there are two 'classes' of IDs. As predicted by folks, and it is a real problem. Those who 'breezed through' [like myself, who only took a couple of monthes semi-casual to master pre-patch], and those who 'drudged through' [ie, now]. The later I'd guess would be alot less likly to give out 'freebies' for use of their skill, after all, it takes FOREVER to get there.

Right now, I think the situation is a bit overboard [especially given the schism it created]. But difficult matter to approach, especially given that this style of changes [extreme Mastery time] may be propagating to other professions (vague rumors/inferences).

Hmm does give me an idea though.

Well there's a big difference between 20 minutes of watching TV (too easy)and 60 + hours of watching a timer tick down (too **edit**in BORING). There's got to be some middle ground here somewhere.

Regardless of the timer (which I hate) I started this profession the day of the patch (after the changes) and I am currently 4-1-1-1. I have made about 800K creditson ID alone...and here is a news flash-----I'm not Master yet. The Stat Migrations may not yield that much XP but they sure as heck have helped my bank account. Just trying to point out that I am having LOADS of fun with this profession. While it is theoretically possible to grind, I don't see how as I have a line of people EVERY DAY and have to politely ask them to go with the Master next to me. The timers really are a nuisance, I hope they get rid of them but it won't stop me from changing people's looks!

Right now I think ID is a joke, considering the discord the devs created, the line it has drawn between those who have not mastered it and for whatever reason want to, and those who finished before the changes. I think a person who did not exploit ID and finish it in 2 hours, who put in the months of work way back would be the ones more inclined to care that the current system is not balanced. Most I have seen post have agreed that it is flawed. And though we will never know how those flaming aspiring ID's for voicing dismay gained ID, since they seem to have no regard for those having to grind it out under this new system, I doubt they ever did the work before, just my opinion, but most of you using these forums to flame in general on aspiring jedi's probabaly just need to get a grip, we all play these games for whatever reason we paly them, for many the reason is the hope of playing as a jedi, do not blame us for going through the unlockng system as it was given us. Hate SOE for it
