Thread: Question from a potential ID

I'm currently trying to decide what to do with my character, as our guild is experiencing a glut of Tailors, atm, and I'm tempted to try my hand at ID.

I'm browsing through some of the threads here, and I'm seeing it stated that "ID gains xp slower than any other profession." Having a character that is working on Politician, ID's get XP less than once a week?

I'm still debating on what I'm going to do with this character, but don't kid yourselves... politicians only gain exp once a week, and it's based on the number of residents in their cities. I've been working on it for 6 weeks or so now, and I'm only 2123.

You may only get the exp once a week, but you don't have to stay logged in and looking at some kind of "Polotician User Interface" the entire time. You really only even have to log in just once in the week to get that exp from my understanding. No flames, but it is like comparing apples and oranges.

Edit: After a total of 10 hours and fifty minutes logged in and with the User interface called up and active ( and blocking 75% of my screen ), I had gone from Novice ID 0-0-0-0 to ID 1-1-1-1. That doesn't include the 41k exp points I needed to get to 0-0-0-0.

SOE, think about every non-Jedi "cancelled" signature you've seen, and remember that there will be more as you forget the communities that makes this game's heart and soul. When you are closing shop on SWG, remember that you ignored the REAL community to cater to an alpha class that assured this game would never be "balanced."

Well, Politician is a different beast really.

I'd imagine Politican would take longer 'real' time than the ID. In practical terms at least.

You can't really grind out Politican, you get the vote xp every week and that's that.

With ID, with a partner in a Salon, it'd take you about 64 hours of "grind time" to go from Novice Entertainer to Master Image Designer. That is without accounting for time to run to a trainer + Get trained + getting the AP for master. After Publish 9 goes live, it'll slump down to 50-53 hours, but still quite a long time.

With the new stat migration changes you'll be very popular, but the xp gain/time is mind-numbingly slow. I levelled start to finish post-May 12 in about 3 weeks working constantly on myself or customers whenever possible. With the advent of pub 9, xp gain of 2k per stat migration, this will pick up as a majority of your ID business will involve this. Considering your present career as politician you should do well and will have plenty of things to do while customer deprived. I spent a good deal of time tweaking aspects of my guild and sending out newsletters when confronted by a non-communicative customer.

The fun factor is still there, but the level progression is very frustrating. I'd recommend running the hair-style line 1st to lvl 4, then level based upon your customer's needs.
