I'm not sure how I feel about this yet, but just had the idea. How would you feel if we got the ablity to sharpen claws and horns to increase a player unarmed combat damage? I think itdoes fit into IDing, but hope it would not be very powerful. I rather have the ablity to color claws

Just thought I run it pass you all

Er…I don't like the idea. Let me explain why:

As it stands, at TKM you get +250 UA damage. This damage produces a fairly high damage output with a very tight range. Given how damage migration works, this tight-range, high-output damage is only mildy affected by migration, as opposed to, say, swordsmen who have a theoretical higher possible damage output, but a wider range, and are thusly affected more by migration.

In other words, UA damage mods are already out of wack—I'd rather not see them get any worse…even though one of my toons is a TKM.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I refuse to support any combat-orented ID profession changes. Supporting this will give the Devs further excuse to downplay the social playstyle they created.

I want the Devs to live up to thier end and bring us new social content worthy of our playstyle. I and many others bought this game on the promise that you didn't have to go around killing things to have a good time, and I refuse to accept that everything must revolve around combat.

I should add, the the buff when the player is truely unarmed, (not using a vibro knucker). I was not taking in account the current stat of TK, I would HAVE to be worked in the combat revamp.

P.S. Don't fear saying you don't like this idea The more I think about it I think it could be very cool doing manicures IF the devs do it right, But if they do it wrong it could be bad very bad,

I can't think of anything I'd like less than another 10 minute timer process to buff the GCW/big game hunt crowd ... only this one would be every few hours per person. The ramifications of this would force me to give up Image Design permanently.

I don't really like it myself either.

It only really is thematically appropiate to apply to Trandoshans [and possibly Wookiee- Well I suppose Zabrak is potential as well, but I don't think they really have pronounced claws], and then only a real benefit for two elite professions [TKA and Smuggler]. For other folks, the change still mostly falls under our Stat Migration ability.

Although I do like the idea of a short-term buff, we have far too many of those for stats available now [Doc/Dancer/Musician and Chef]. And a temporary skill bonus may be somewhat fun [like Chef's again], but I'm hard pressed to think of some skill changes that fit under our Personal Trainer concept that aren't subsumed by Stat Migration.

Fun sidenote of moment though : Stat Migration is 10 minutes to limit Stat Migration, not to drive the ID insane . It's quite possible and feasible for new "combat orientated" content to use the body change timer .

Heh... could've fooled me. The timers on cosmetic and body changes (INSIDE the tent) are not too bad, especially if I have a customer who wants a lot of things done and I have, in fact, gone over it a few times. The timer on stat migrations, on the other hand (with the RARE exceptions of when the customer wants a LOT more than that) is mind bogglingly tedious and BORING! If it were set up the way a medic's timer is, so I could start the change and it took the 10 minutes to complete, it would be ok... even if I was unable to do any REAL ID work during that time, but having to sit there with that huge interface taking up half the screen is driving me nuts. I have, in fact, been delaying working on my two characters who are currently aspiring IDs (Ssumidra on Bria and Dar'yia on Intrepid), so they are sitting there with 2 or 3 boxes to go to make master right now (though finding someone to train me is getting harder and harder... and Dar'yia is sitting at 4/3/2/4 right now with 40k xp banked).

/e Feels the tent walls closing in on her and runs screaming into the night.

If we MUST have timers, why can't they be from /image to /image instead of from /image to commit?

Hehe, you do know you can hide the ID Screen rather easily right? Just hit alt. and poof it goes away without aborting.

I was designing myself On the Run a few days ago without problem and was able to keep up in moving from location to location [just had to be sure to hit commit before combat started but umm that's kinda logical ].

I do agree that the interface is big and cumbersome, but you can hide it at the very least. It may take sometime to get used to moving around in free-mode, but at the very least you can see folks around you and avoid the whole "YOU'RE IGNORING ME! YOU ELITIST STAT MIGRATOR!" [Heh, "No stat migration for you! Come back, one year!"]

I quite agree with you. Not only is it mind numbingly boring, staring at a blue screen with an often ill-designed player on it, who absolutely refuses to let you fix him up a bit, for ten minutes, I have had angry shouts from people who said I ignored them. Sorry folks, but if you're on the right hand side of my screen, I can't see you.

On the original topic, I too would hate the idea if the only content that's available for us is combat centered. I like Image Design because it is not about combat. Being another buff-o-mat, besides doctors, dancers, and musicians is something I could do without very well.

Nice to see something that would be a feasable thing an ID could do for others beyond what they do now.

Please also remember that Wookies using thier climbing claws in combat were viewed as being insane, and were dealt with harshly by thier kin. SWG has quite enough seperations from the continuity, and I don't think we should chomp at the bit for any more of them.

Please note that I am not a rabid defender of the continuity, and I realize that some things need to fall outside of it to allow for a good game. However, the game is based on Star Wars, and the more we seperate ourselves from the continuity from which the game sprung, the less imersive it becomes.
