Hi I'm new to all of this. I've always wanted to be an ID and a dancer. I went for Master Dancer first, and then got nerfed to the point where I felt the profession was obsolete. So I went all combatty for a while and well, needed my artisitic side back. When the major ID publish came out I was inspired so I thought I'll be an ID finally! I had some ID xp saved up in novice entertainer, but yikes, I have an ID buddy and everything and still haven't got to novice ID - it's been a week!!!

I'm not a huge social person, I'm quiet. I'm nice and polite to anyone that approaches me, I'll chat to ppl sure, but I rarely initiate - I"m just not that type. So if the devs are classing this profession, yet ANOTHER social profession, does that mean I'm suppossed to just sit there in a tiny, dark tent with some crappy middy playing on repeat with little variation, while i wait 2 1/2 mins per change for only 300xp.

Perspective here, my husband started pikeman 2 days ago, he didn't even have novice brawler. By tomorrow he will be master.

I work - this is how I pay for the monthyly subscription. So I can only play like 3hrs per day max, because due to time zones the servers shut down at 9pm. So i get home at 6pm and if i don't eat or do anything else but play i get in 3hrs.

Is there a light at the end of this tunnel? I soooo wanna be an ID, but i'm getting serious RSI from twiddling my thumbs and i've almost got a concussion from hitting my keyboard snoozing at the timers...

Melpomyne, the Developers are doing everything they can to keep people like you from having fun with ID. At publish 9 things get a very tiny bit better, but won't really make any difference. In Pub9 when you get novice you can make a fair bit more exp for doing stat migrations. Sadly, that's all you have to look forward to in levelling terms, and it's not much.

On the bright side, if you can last until master, ID is an incredibly fun and rewarding profession. I really hope you can last until the Developers see what a huge mistake they've made, so you can participate in the fun part of it.

Thanks for the feedback guys, but it sounds like i'm gonna be a sad panda

I really want to be MID, but alas, along with many of my friends who have tried and failed, I may not make it. What do people advise? should I keep the xp i've got so far and put id on the back burner for now until some good news comes out, or should I try to push on at the risk of leaving the game altogether out of boredom?

The Devs deserve kudos and /cheers for this prof, it is so unique as are all the entertainer profs... but can i survive novice?

One thing to be careful of is if you have progressed too far you will lose XP over the Cap of the Box your training in Next time you train Exsample I have just done this Artasan with Servey 4 and 5345 XP. I Droped to Servay 1 (cap is 2x next box) its cap is 5000 XP. On the First sample I made after Droping to Survay 1 I "earned" -345 XP. Because it exseded my new Cap.

It's really hard to do. Maybe you could do what I did, and grind it using stat migrations while washing dishes and doing housework... time flies when you do that. I set up a macro as follows, for doing stat migrations on my alt (which as of tomorrow will be worth 2000 exp on live servers):

/imagedesign;

/pause 50;

/alarmaddin 0 9 ID ready;

that's it. Then it sends you an alarm 10 seconds before the imagedesign is ready to go... if you turn up your speakers it should be audible from pretty far away. You need a partner for this one; to do it on your own change the pause to 20 and the alarmaddin to 2 instead of 9. The shorter breaks are more annoying because you can't get as much done AFK.

Ideally the partner should either be someone ATK (a crafter grinding their profession is perfect for this) or someone AFK with a loop macro that does /ui action defaultButton every second or so.

I'm a strong anti-afk person, but the ID grind is just too silly to do any other way, even with the stat migration "fix". I'm afraid that's all the advice I can offer, and I really hope you can stick with it. I'm tempted to say that MID is worth the grind, because it is a really great profession and you WILL have fun with it... but it's just so hard to get to

Nope, you're probably screwed.

To help with leveling I used a liberal amount of bloody mary mix and some good vodka. I also kept a comfy pillow near the keyboard to help with those pesky touch-and-go maneuvers. It's sticking the landing that's tough on the noggin.

Good luck to you.

do like I am and back burner it, level it a little when you are bored doing anything else and wait.

Stat Migration will be a pain to do on someone else for exp and we may end up paying THEM intead of their paying us

which will end up hurting the profession anyway. Can you imagine leveling up with customers alone?

dang.

Anyway, it stinks that a doctor can Master their profession in 2-3 days and it takes a much longer time to become an M ID

sad that
