Hello peeps!
Ok I know that i said i would never do this, however after 16-17 long, yet enjoyable months as an Image designer, my time has finally come to move on. I have given this a lot of thought over tha last few weeks and i can assure you that in 30 mins i will have to type the hardest 'yes' in the history of swg.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this profession since day 1 and it will always be my favorite. However there are a few things that have made me wish to move on.
1st, I really want to try other things.
2nd, im enjoying crafting now and i want to spend more times on that.
3rd, i love spending time with hubby hunting just the two of us and nothing breaks the mood quite like ... "random player tells you: quick, i need hair change now!"
4th, - and this is perhaps the biggest reason i am retiring - i originally started this profession because, all ego aside, i knew i would be good at it. This is one profession where u dont just grind out your template and then mash your F# keys. There can be a vast difference between a Master Image Designer, and what i call A Master of Image Design. A profession badgedoesnt make you the best when it comes to ID. And i guess besides pilot, ID is the next "twitch" profession. What has changed? Stat Migrations ... /cower. Salons.../shudder. I did not take up this profession to become a droid, and in my opinion (and im sure its not just my own opinion) stat migrations have ruined my beloved ID.
This is not to flame about how my favorite thing in the game has been ruined, or to complain about it, neither will do any good. Its simply an explanation as to why i am retiring.
I would like to say a final thank you to everyone who has helped me and i hope you all continue to work together to help each other.
A special thanks to both Kwee and Technocan for both being figureheads to look up to and for thier wonderful guidence in the ID community. Alsoan extra special/hug'n'kiss to all the ID's on Valcyn and if anyone you need helpwith your pricing, your grinding, or even if you are after a few more customers.(i have an enormous customer base that needs to go to a good home
) or perhaps if you just want to chat or ask some advice, Please feel free to send me a tell.
Stay beautiful - Aloora
P.S. Now that im just a customer ....Can you just run through all256 eye colors again?

But really, we'll miss you. I've got an alt on Valcyn, maybe I'll run into you sometime, look for Naea, a really cute blue Twi'. Suspiciously...she is also grinding ID.
Send a tell if you need anything!

I am sorry to see you go too, but I completely understand your reasons for leaving. I share your sentiments exactly about the nature of image design and why it is so compelling months and months after you have mastered.
Unfortunately, a well developed sense of style and good social skills can't be measured as well as x number of clicks or x number of hours spent grinding, so the devs gave us stat migrations and timers to redefine our profession, how it was learned and what role it should play in the overall economy. I'm certain they did this with the best intentions in a way that made sense to them.
And maybe the stat migrations have helped some players earn a little more money than they otherwise would have, but for me they almost took the fun out of being a MID. It seems to me the joys and benefits of ID are too intangible for the devs to understand them, and thus understand us and what motivates us and keep us spending so many skillpoints in a profession that, apart from the stat migrations, isn't really useful at all (thank god).
Why else would they create a profession that is so dependent on individual skill and appeals mainly to social players and then create a grinding system which is completely anti-social and requires only the skill of checking the same box over and over again? I can't think of any other profession where the road to master and the life after master are such complete opposites.
If there are to be any MIDs left in the galaxy in the future we need some changes. Either twice the current content or half the grind. Or both.

I have only dabbled in ID on another server, and I don't really know for sure, but weren't these stupid timers put in as a speedbumpsagainst the hologrinding of ID (which apparently used to be very fast)? If hologrinding is no longer an issue, couldn't they be removed? I know some of the timers were lowered, but it still seems an unecessary hindrance.
I speak from ignorance here, having only played around in the entertainer area of ID on another server, but the timers are very cumbersome. ID seems like it should be social and fun... not full of rules and restrictions...?
Anyway, it's hard to see folks giving up a loved profession because of game design. But if you like crafting, I really enjoy chef quite a bit!
