Thread: PETITION: CHANGE SPECIES (information within)

Petition: Allow Image Designers to Change an avatars species.
- This would take 10 minutes (or more maybe 30-60?).
- This would have a mandatory price of [x] credits (x = 1,000,000?+/-)
- Would max ID's xp (or at least halway to max)
- Only Master Image Designer can do it
Storyline as to Why:
**THE FOLLOWING IS NOT REAL BUT A STORYLINE FOR THE LOAD SCREEN**
Kaminoans have figured out, through extensive research and testing, how to modify a persons gene pool to change their outward appearance! This will allow a person to change their species to one desired! (If you started out as A species and want to change to Bspecies, it is now available! This procedure is now available! Go see your local image designer for more information or to make the change possible!

Sorry to discourage you, but Lucas Arts (who are the actual owners of this game and thus have the final saying) have allready gave their final No to this topic. No petition will do any good here.

Aww man
That would be so awesome though. (sigh) What can you do but enjoy the other aspects of the game (and I'm not being sarcastic). It was a good idea for the 5 minutes it lived.. lol

I dont like the idea. People would ID themselves into humans to gain tons of FP then ID to Mon Cal for crafting bonuses then to twileks for music bonuses, then to ithorinas for ship crafting bonuses then into Bothans so they can run slower and me made fun of then turn into Zabrak wannabe darth mauls all in one days span. Plus its just unrealistic completely. Genes dont alter your Skeletal Structure or your Nervous system adn certainly these species have vast differensces. Twilek's Ryl is a perfect example. Surely there are extra areas of the brain and nervous system that control the Telepathic Ryl Language. I dont see it as a good idea even if Lucasarts allowed it......ever. Its just morally and scientifically wrong.

I think that is an exellent summary of why LA/SOE don't want to allow race-changes in this game. The potential for exploitation is way too big, beside the the fact, that completely changing someones species seems way out of what is possible even in the Star Wars Universe.

the ONLY way i would agree to a race change would be for a new player - no more than 30-days - and ONLY one time.
I can see how someone just starting the game, doesnt know everything about the star wars species, learns that they should have picked a tran instead of a wookiee for their chosen profession, doesnt want to loose everything they've worked on in those 30-days, ect.
IF they EVER were to agree to this, the new players wouldnt be able to afford what ID would want to charge for it if there was ANY kind of timer on it. They would have to make it a no-timer or a client-side timer. It would be really cool if the player had to morph over an extended period of time, say 24 hours. See a wookiee running around with tran feet and ridges LOL.
Anyway, I dont see this ever happening, but the new player rule would be the ONLY way it would ever remotely be considered by SOE/LA.

I'm not an ID but thought I would stop in to see how the "other half" (noncombat professions) lives. I am a very spontaneous (sp) type person and like having hair and skin color changes. After having my rodian be yellow, white, aqua, blue, and of course green. Having changed his eye color, hairstyle, and going from the shortest to the tallest stature. I've been to every planet and almost every wp, I'm not jedi but was working on it. I migrated my mind to the highest it could go and was disappointed. Knowing what I had to do I tried not too, always buffed the mind, food, drink, drugs, I did what I never wanted to do--Last night I killed him and started a new toon.
I don't care if LucasArts says no, I don't care if it was only one time. I would've spent however much it cost to have his species changed.
They once said you couldn't change servers yet they allowed that. Even if it's just once (which is what I think it should be) they should allow it. But there shouldn't be a time limit, after all it took me a year and a half to realize my toon just wasn't working for me. I'll always love rodians, and my human doesn't have character at all, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
So I'm back to the grind.
I vote yes on this subject and I'm not even ID.

BTW-God bless you guys, I've never met an ID that was a jerk, never one that turned me into something I didn't like. And I always tried to tip them well.

If it were to ever be allowed I suggest using this system that someone decided to type up. Im not saying I condone, in fact I still see it to be scientifically and morally wrong in a Roleplaying perspective, but if it is to be considered I could tolerate this proposal written HERE

i really wish this would be implemented.. or at least a service similar to character transfer, that you could pay like 30$ to change your race. I know i'd like to, and a lot of other people would be interested as well, especially now with two new races that came with jtl. deleting a char + starting all over again is tideous, ESPECIALLY if your a jedi.

it seems some people dont understand the concept behind starting over on a new character. this idea should never be implimented.

Changing species would be even more drastic than changing sex. It just shouldn't be done. Same with changing a name.

Back on topic - This strikes me as a bad idea on a lot of sides.
1-It would encourage a lot more new players who don't know better to slip into the F.o.t.M trap.
2-It would make the current FotMers all look even more the same
3-I can't imagine forcing an ID to sit for an extended time and chat with me if they don't want to, which is exactly what many (not all) of the people who'd want this service would do.

I've thought of one situation where someone would want a Race change. With JtL and the inclusion of Ithorians/Sullustans I can see someone wanting to switch their well established character to a previously unavailable race. Because I came up with one, I realize there may be other reasons, so I have removed #4 from my list.
