Thread: Correspondent What is to come?
Simply put, for all service professions, whether ID's, doctors, entertainers, or crafters, we need a more robust system for putting customers in contact with those "on duty." This would make us more likely to get business when we want it, while cutting down on random tells when we are busy with other things.

The problem as I see it now is that both clients and ID's end up wasting a lot of time waiting about, and that is mostly due to a lack of a registration system in the tents. And most people have a second profession other than ID, whatever that might be, doing which is far more interesting than waiting in a tent with nothing to do. I see ID's playing the other side of their personas more and more, after waiting around and then giving up on customers.

Is there any way to get like an in-game board in the salon? It's all fine and dandy to have a list outside of the game, but you can't cut and paste across for the char names.
I've often wished we had some sort of board in game where player IDers can "sign up" saying that they show up at that salon on a regular or semi-regular basis. You know... likeat real salons where each hair cutting spot has a little plaque with the person's name on it. We don't have to sign up for times or anything, but just a place in game in the salons where people can look and find the list of IDers. Maybe where we have to add ourselves to the list and refresh itonce a week like voting terminals do? Mostpeopleseem to just doa char search for someone who has an ID title up, but most of us don't keep up the ID title, so of course they can't find us.

I wish I could bring anything concrete info about what the devs might have in store for us. But at the moments it's pretty difficult to get any solid info, since the devs have become very very carefull of what they let out to the public.
I agree, that we still have a pretty long list of issues. From our desire to get some alternative to the Salons or the fact that it is really not that easy to bring IDs and customers together. Or our hope to apply tattoos and scars or other little gimmicks... Well it's a pretty long lists...
And to properly presenting it to the devs I will start a new Top5 gathering-thread pretty soon. I'm currently preparing the posts so you all can bring up the issues you see with our profession.
I hope I will get the posts up later tonight.
I wonder if it would be effective to look at this upcoming top 5 list and figure which really is doable and generally beneficial to all parties and really push it. The latest patches seem like they really are trying to get stuff done. Changes where the pieces are already in place might have the best chance.
Ones that come to mind are:
- -IDing vendors
- -Access to NPC hairdos
- -timer and xp issues
Chasing Amy - Bria

while an ingame listingwould be nice,
I thought a note to the fact you CAN cut and paste to ingame is needed
There is a notepad feature in SWG, ingame we access it by /no
Out of game we can manipulate it the same as any notepad, like copying to it
It is found of course in your SWG folder,
making a shortcut to it from your desktop or someplace you can readily access
means any info you want ingame you can simply highlight, copy, open the swg notepad, and paste
then ingame when you type /no your info will be there
{I use this religously, for web addys, forums quotes, and it holds all my notices and descriptions to copy/paste for merchant descriptions so i do not have to type it every time}
Not only do we have a desperate need for the ability to Register, but we REALLY need to have some way to get players to 1) be aware that the tents even exist (way too many of the people looking for an ID go to a cantina and are unaware that the tents even exist) but also 2) to USE the Planetary Map to check and see if anyone is registered in a given location (this is a problem that Dancers & Musicians have). The Registration system really needs to be more robust too.

I would like to have a player salon or a sign as noted in an earlier post. Heck the most useful place for the sign would be near the entrance to the starport. They could make it a poster like the kill counter in EQ2 though hopefully it would work better than that particular one
