I thought it would be nice if, going along the whole player bestowed buffs like Entertainers theme, the ID were to enter into the mix with a buff that would be applied in a similar fashion to the others.
Basically, setting up a session with an ID would grant your character enhanced agility, (higher evade/block %) and a slightly increased base run speed than usual. The way I see it, Doctors buff your Health and Action. Entertainers buff your Mind. There is a gap there that I believe some people could use a leg up.THere's a gray area there that Chefs mostly fill, buffing a mixture of stats and abilities. The limiter is the stomach gauge. The result is that most people end up eating and buying the same 4 foods over and over again. There is little deviation from the formula that "works". (Ahrisa/Canape/Brandy/Vercupti/Mandalorian)
For instance, defense stackers may not need the agility buffs, but say, a lonely Bio-Engineer making the rounds could really benefit from a more toned physique for a couple of hours. Careful choice would have to be applied so that the ID buff did not step on the toes of the Chef food/drink buffs. And even if it did, slightly, so what? This would open up more options to players they didn't normally use. For instance, instead of eating Air Cake, you could pack on something else like a spice downer reduction cake and use the ID buff to fill in for the Air Cake. This means that people might *gasp* start using spice again !
This is just one of the many possible combinations I can think of offhand.A 4 minute session worth a 2 hour buff like Entertainers. I don't think the concept is game breaking, and with the CURB coming along soon, armor and doc buffs are going to change, placing more emphasis on food/drink and entertainer buffs to even out the new combat rules and limitations.
I think the idea has some merit. I apologize if someone has suggested this already, I haven't seen it anywhere but I thought what a nice turn it would give our profession.
I would ask for feedback from the community, do you think the idea has merit? The one thing I would ask is that you be aware of the other buffs out there, try to keep it to a level that's not stackable (read as : exploitable), try to make it something that would benefit the majority of players and not only cater to defense stackers, and try to make it something that can give us something else to do without loading us down and making us change our titles for fear of being bothered constantly, but to add another thing that IDs can do that is profitable.
SMs are a good source of revenue but they're pretty few and far between nowadays with people not switching classes as often. I had predicted it would happen this way.. they gave us the SM ability on the eve of the removal of the hologrind... it was a bone wrapped in a really pretty ribbon, but a bone nonetheless.
Probably why this idea has more appeal to me than other ideas is because.... with the interface we have now, similar to doing SMs... this sort of thing cannot be AFK macro'd
Sure someone can level up an ID buff bot like they would a Musician or a Doctor, but that will always happen. This isn't about eliminating all buff bots.. that's impossible. It's about making the already rare ID more valuable.
Hell.. if someone wants to grind up an ID for doing nothing more than physique buffs.. more power to them. I don't like the new grind... *shudder*

not quite following the entire idea of ID buffs. here are some ideas ive had for giving id's buff abilities:
- Stomach Buff: could allow for more stomach room (this is a body function ... ID can increase stomach size for drink/food consumption for a limited time, say2.5 hours at master? by 50%)
- Digestive Buff:maybe buff for decreased digestive time (food and drink are digested 50% faster for 2.5 hours).
- Modifier Buff:similar to BE mods for clothing in buff form (Bleed Def./Med/Ent/Camo.MaskScent/MeleeDef.DefVsStun/WC.Int/Taming) maybe allow a +5 for each for 2.5 hours or something... or maybe make them modifiers for mods totally different than the BE mods.
- Entertainer Buff:an entertainer based buff ... something that would effect action, quickness, and/or stamina simliar to that of a doctor buff ... however, most doctors nowadays do not offer one stat buffs, so this would be a great service to provide within the entertaining community. As this might upset doc's ... maybe this type of buff could simply make it where florishes and effects were performed at 0 ham cost rather than actually buffing that part of the ham as the docs do ... so in essence, it effects the cost of the action rather than the actual action bar.
- XP Buff:this buff would give the buffed character the ability to gain xp at an excelerated rate (maybe 10% more than normal?)
nothing too over excessive, but would give ID a more stable place in the game, as the majority of the players have SOME sort of combat profession. very few of us are purely non-combat. making these craft free would be a big key, as ID generally dont want to craft stuff. Maybe they could make them craftable by other professions but only useable by the ID ... or make it a check box system in the ID'ing window.

An entertainer buffing buff would be neat, the concept beeing that the right hair and makeup can enhance a performance. could be used to evensome of thediscrepancy between doc and ent buffs. It would make some sense since IDs are entertainers and better ties them back into their roots.
