I'm sick of hearing about these situations with dishonest people who use "roleplaying" as a guise to act like a badly behaved child. Sure, all is fair in love and war... but messing with someone's toon? Not cool.

Erm... only opinion I have is spelling is abysmal in that thread. However I'm not here to criticise people's spelling as I have enough trouble myself. (Point proven everywhere in this post )

Only constructive thing is when you encounter an attention seeker like that, the best thing you do is ignore them. By posting on the forum though you are making the public more aware of this person, you are giving what they want most attention. Deny them this and show them that there are consquences and you'll find a lot less bad behaviour anywhere.

In child psychology the worst punishment you can 'inflict' on a child is ignore them. Bear in mind you never ever want to do this to a young child cause the effects are very deterimental to their emotional growth.

Unfortunatly, everyone in this game is supposed to be an adult (or adult-like). While ignoring a child is punishment enough for them, adults need to be handled differently.

(My psych knowledge is somewhat limited, so bear with me here).

Because adults are generally considered community members, adults tend to rely on other people's opinions. I understand that ostracism is a form of giving the "silent treatment," but because adults talk, it can take months or years to repair damage done to one's reputation.

Honestly, I think that every dishonest person in this game should be called out on it.

For instance, on my server there is a Jedi (whom I shall leave nameless). Because of actions he made months ago (like November), he is still being treated with disdain. Of course his attitude still reflects the way he is treated, so it is a cyclical situation for him where no one wants to hear from him because he cannot be civil... and so on and so on...

I know I sound like a vindictive teenager, but honestly, sometimes it is best to go after reputation when wanting to get even.

I have to agree, that it is sad, that some ID think, that messing around with the Avatar of someone else is a cool and funny way to get revenge or whatever. But I think the poster himself might have been acting provocative, too. I don't know what happened prior to the supposed mistreatment by this ID, but I can imagine, that the poster himself was quite provocative during his 'bordom attack' himself.

But since none of us was there to tell what really happened none of us can really play the judge. Seeing it from the roleplay aspect I would say that it isn't usually the brightest idea to ask for a drink in a bar where you just walked in and beat up the locals just out of bordom. Not to speak of asking for a haircut or statmigration.

Although I have thought about doing this, I never have and never will. I take my profession seriously and treat all of my customers with respect. It's really upsetting to hear people exploit the game like that and ruin it for others. About once a week I get a comment that they "know how you ID'ers are" and "don't want any changes made to my character." This really offends me and I try to laugh it off by saying something like "you mean to tell me you don't want a pink Mohawk, green eyes and orange beard?” This usually relaxes them but I have had one person cancel the session and walk away.

I agree with madam. As much as I have been tempted to ID someone with goofy coloring, I have resisted. I'm not certain I like that people have a negative regard towards IDs. However, I've only had only a couple of people freak out when I suggested I could make other changes (only if the wanted), and only one shout at me that he only wanted his stats migrated. I think it's important that IDs on a whole remain respectful towards their customers and always wince when I hear a story like what was in the thread.

I agree. IDs who alter a customer's appearance without the customer's permission give the rest of us a bad name. It is one thing to be tempted... it is something else altogether to give in to that temptation.
