Scary but kind of true. IDs in cooperation with Tailors enable the players to better identify themselves with their avatars. Additional our work affects how a player is seen by others. Beside the chat the avatar is the only 'visible' part of the player in the game and to my experience it often reflects much more of ones personality than many players might be ready to admit.

And this is the reason why abusing our mighty powers by doing unasked changes is such a serious issue. We kind of tinker with the ego of the players while working on their avatars and so we not only hurt the apearance of an avatar but hurt the ego of it's player as well when doing unwanted changes.

People want to be unique. That's why they spend what they do to perfect it. It's true when they say that 'image is everything'. If you want your character betrayed as a bad a-- TKA or a sexy entertainer, then you'll adjust your image to reflect that.

good post!

What makes Image Design profession unique ? I came to the opinion that it's because alone in all SWG profession, the skills and trade of Image design affects more directly the Players than the Characters.

Modifiying an avatar's look absolutely has no effect ingame. Looks don't kill in SWG,yet some player just spend loads of money on tweaking their avatar's look. Our trade affects the players and their relation to their avatar, their immmersion in the game. Our trade affects the real world.

Scarry hu ?

metagamers because our profession has effect "outside the game" which is what "metagaming" means, literally. But maybe you have another definition for the word i don't know.

Metagaming is commonly used as a term (at least in other games I play) where peoples' out of game knowledge gets abused in game. Like what would happen if we could actually see peoples' stats while they were being migrated, and then we sold or used that information in PVP.
