I am a casual player. I play maybe 2 or 3 hours evry day or so. How long would it take me to master. I figure there arent any on my server any more except akiera. Figured i can use a non-combat role.

hmmm, going MID is going to be quite a task for you. However, it is doable as long as you don't expect to be able to go up very much in a short period of time. READ: months. Going MID is a major investment in time. In addition, I'd seriously look for a partner to help you, otherwise you'll be even slower.

The best advise I can give you is to have a lot of patience. The times of nearly instant mastery in this profession are long one and now everyone who masters this profession really can be proud of having achieved something that many many many other players shy from even trying. To speed up the process it helps to either have a couple of very patient friends or maybe a second account that you can log in with additional to your ID.

It does take awhile to master. It took me about 3 hrs a day during the weekand all day Sat and Sun to master it in about 6 weeks. I was never so happy to be done and took a break for a couple of weeks. Something that makes it worth your while is that you get paid while training. I usually make about 100k an hour. While I was training I made about 40 - 60k an hour. As technocan said, it's definately rewarding.

I dunno I did ID in a week and a half 4-10 hrs a day ~42ish hours total investment).. I'm finding TK is taking waaay longerand needs soo much extra costs to do. such as armor, buffs brandy brandy and more brandy. Quickest profession was medic so far.. Did that in like 2 hours... almost a joke to do... need a tumbler, buy a crate of stimb's and make 5 crafting kits. and a couple thoughsand organic and a couple thoughsand inorganic..
The longest Profession I'm still doing is Politician.. It's like month 3.. and I'm still only 2-4-3-2

I have SERIOUS respect for any new MID's after the ID changes. *shivers* Im trying to just get the 4 Entertainer ID boxes and its taking me forever.
i wish i new some way to speed it up, even a little. Do ID jobs on different races give more or less xp? previously things like eye color on twileks gave better XP, is hta sort of thing still in effect? It hurts even more because im in a all wookiee guild in a mostly wookiee city and i cant even do any Ent/ID work on wooks. ugh...

There are 3 levels of ID xp now.
- Cosmetic changes get you 100 xp in 1 minute (2 minutes outside the tent)
- Body changes get you 300 xp in 2.5 minutes (5 minutes outside the tent)
- Stat migrations get you 2k xp in 10 minutes (can only be done in the tent)
The first body change you get is eye color at Image Design 2 in the Entertainer line (at which point you can do ID work on any race as everyone has eyes).
You can do stat migrations starting at Novice ID.
All races give the same amount of xp for a given "type" of change (i.e. cosmetic, body or stat migration).
Finally, you get half as much xp if you are IDing yourself as you get if you are IDing someone else and you cannot stat migrate yourself... so doing ID work on yourself outside the tent takes 4x as long to gain a level of skill as IDing someone else inside the tent.

Its very time consuming but i think worth it. If you can find a friend who is grinding a craft proffession and have them sit in the salon and let you work on them. Thats what I was able to do. Or pay someone to sit there for an hour. Once you get novise it will be a little easier as you can stat migrate andcharge prices or ask for tips and now is a prime time for stat migrations lately on my server. I am an average player an hour ot 2 during the weekdays, and pretty hard core on the weekends so figure it taking you 2 - 21/2 months

I'm pretty certain that ID is one of the few professions which you cannot convert FP for. I'm not entirely certain about this, but . . . it may not be a viable option.
