oops! dont ask lol. ok here it is
Hi, my name is Aloora of the Valcyn server. Even though ive been ID for a long time ive never posted on this forum. I have poped in for a quick look every now and then, but often havent liked what ive seen. I have been an ID since day 1 (and I mean day 1) and ive been master since roughly 3 weeks after that (which would make that roughly the end of august 2003) giving me roughly 13 months experience in ID. As far as i know i am one of the "oldest" IDs around.
While I may not agree with the way alot of you run your little ID bussinesses or charge your customers, ive not in over a year said a single word. But lately ive noticed increasing amounts of people agreeing/disagreeing/complaining about prices. The icing on the cake however, was after reading a few posts wherein some IDs complained about how other IDs ran thier bussiness.
To give you an example of the professionalism I like to show when doing ID myself I charge as follows.
Stat Migrations 20k
Holo emotes 8k
Ok now, i once charged different prices for different things as most do. Doesnt work in todays market. So i then tried a set amount for each change. No good either. so i now use stat migrations as a base. It takes 10 mins of my tim to do. (at 20k making that 2k per minute) And i as my time, and the time of my other customers is prescious, i charge 2k per minute across the board. that way the customer is free to take as much or little time as he/she likes.
So basically how this works is, If a customer wants stat migrations, that is done at a base rate of 20k, and any changes they can have done in this time, are essentially free, beacsue they are being charged for the time. (holo emotes however will add 8k on top of this price)
However if they simply come in to change thier eyes hair color, this will be charged according to how long they take to make a choice. Min 2k however if they are incredibly indecisive, then it could cost them 3,4,5 or even 20k.
I usually spend 30-60 mins a day (on days i play) in the salon. However i also like to do things for myself. Yet some customers as we all know have a makeover crisis every now and then. I dont really want to stop in the middle of my mission and travel to coronet to ID someone, yet they cant find another ID anywhere. Compromise? I charge double the normal rate If i have to travel to the salon. fair and easy. Now this is a very professional way to run a bussiness, and therefore can often be mistaken for a "cold" attitude. But I have been doing this longer than most, and have a good customer base by now as you can imagine , and 99% of my customers are more than happy with this as they know they are paying for my experience and advice, and nowadays the majority of my customers simply come to me and say "Aloora, work your magic"
Im happy for anyone to take my system and use it as well, Im also happy for any of you to disregard my system and hate it entirely, What im NOT happy for anyone to do, is complain that its not "nice" or "friendly" or "happy" or even the opposite. There is no need to flame or think bad upon the few IDs i see that actually operate professionaly.
Thank you for your time and i hope this may help soem of you think with an open mind.
Also as a matter of curiosiy has anyone been ID longer than 13 odd months?

I'm glad to see someone who run their business the way they want to as opposed to the way everyone else wants them to run it.

Charge the same price you would charge if you were an MID. It takes you just as long to do themand a stat migration from a Master is no different than one from a Novice.

Hiya aloora! I'm on valcyn also (my name is kharma)! I don't think I've seen you around the tents, feel free to give me a tell and we can chat sometime. I just recently made master! woohoo!
As far as my prices go, I charge 20k for stat migrates, I just recently changed from 10k to 20k when I reached mastery. I'm always up for bartering for the price, but it's not negotiable. For all other changes I tell people to tip me what they think it's worth. so far, the worst tip I've gotten to date has been 700 credits and the best tip I've gotten has been 100k. Most people tip aroun 5-10k, so I'm happy with it.
As I said before, love to chat with you if you have the time!

It took me a few months to master ID, I HATED to grind, but did do a good bit. Some ID's that read this forum did it entirely naturally and it took them 6-9 mo. That's how I did Tailor, which took me 8 months. I've been doing ID since beta 3, but I'm a casual player so some ID's that have been at it for a few months could very well have more hours clocked in than me
I like your pricing system, especially the travel charge.I've always been a meanie and refused to travel at all. I think I did only once, when someone needed to be turned blue who was roleplaying that they were turning into a cyborg dog and were under house arrest. Or something like that ;P

oh yes, the reason why I changed my prices for stat migration?
Well, yes it is true that a master doesn't stat migrate any differently from novices. But I still feel as a master I should be able to command better prices. I certainly don't need the xp anymore, so basically it's people paying for my time.
Also, I know several novice IDs who need the business. If someone disagrees with my price, I'm always happy to forward them a list of known novices who have 10k prices, or are more flexible on their pricing then I am.
