Hello Image Designers,
First of all, I never did ID myself. So I entirely rely on the FAQs and the little I can play around with at the character creation.
Tonight I went to the Coronet Tent on FarStar, and asked an ID if she knew Vin Diesel from Riddick... after a year of looking like who-knows-what, I decided its time to overdo a little, and have some fun.
Now I have 2 questions:
First of all, in general, is this an unreasonable request? I paid 20k credits (no stat migration at all) to cover that side, was polite, patient, tried to be helpful by giving definite opinions (as in: more nose protrusion.... a little less.... yep, thats good, now, next I want eyes ... etc., step by step) and then let her finish the face the way she remembered Riddick.
Would you hate that kind of job? I thought its better, since most players have little experience with the ID options, and I guess most MIDs take the job with a good eye and imagination for design ideas.
Second: How would YOU try and make a Riddick face? Dont get me wrong, I was amazed at the work she was doing, just curious how different people create the same face... of course, just for fun
Thanks in advance,
Rrowann

Actually, I have done that kind of job. There's a Riddeck on my server. When he came to me it was just for an eye change and I think a minor adjustment of some facial feature I can't immediately recall. If I had to do the job from scratch I'd just do a web search for pictures of Vin Diesel and work at it. It's mostly a matter of picking a prominent feature or two to start with, building those, and seeing if I can get the rest of the less prominent features to match up around them.

I had someone ask me for Wil Smith once.
Im sorry to say I couldnt get very close at all
Wil Smith has a fairly round face, and thats very difficult to create in SWG without adding weight, which would have made him look...not like Wil Smith.
So he ended up going for something completely different.
It's kinda fun to try, tho...I know Ive seen ID'ers do better jobs of the Star Wars NPCs than the artists did.

20K? Most of my special clients reward me much more generously in the range of 20-150K for making them look the way they want. being pateint and working with the client helps keep thiers and my mood happy and the experiance pleasant. some times I bite my lip because I know I'll get a call from them the next day to change some of thier colour choices.

Sounds like a fun session.
The ones I generally don't enjoy are the "give me some more cheeks, no more cheeks! why are you changing my jaw it was fine, I want more cheeks!" and all the while I'm moving the cheek slider...
Or my other fun times are when somebody tells me that suchandsuch slider isn't at max when it is.
It's great to see you provided feedback to the id during the session, makes things a lot more interesting.

Erann, the ID had a pricelist in her Bios, and said its more than enough with 20k, so I guess prices just vary. Also, it didnt take long at all
Glad to hear I didnt break half a dozen rules of courtesy. Its just difficult to convey your preferred looks if you have no RL person both sides know to refer to.
And about the other Riddick lookalike... I dont suppose you have a screenie?

I actually made a Riddick on the Bria server today just for the hell of it since I was offered the ten free days to return to the game. I thought he turned out pretty well, though he could use better eyes and goggles if they're in the game.

No goggles in this game beside the ones from the Collectors Edition and those cannot be traded and they look... well... erm.. strange...
