Thread: Is it unreasonable to believe in changes for ID?

First time caller, long time listener to this forum.

Having been an Master ID on the Gortah server for over two months now, I am loathe to just give it up without seeing where the profession is going. So far I have been able to work around skill points restrictions and learn other skills but I know that at some point in the near future I will have to make a choice on whether or not to dump the profession. Again, I would hate to do this because I change my appearance on a daily basis and have even required the nickname Chameleon from my guild mates because of it. So, I guess what I am asking is can we expect even the least of Kwee's list on the 'State of ID Thread' to be implemented? Or will the future patches in the next 2-3 months be nothing more than numbers for hairstyles and being able to see a changed hair color?

I hope, like I'm sure all of us do, that extreme changes will be made to this most outstanding and underutilized profession. Surely, the DEV's saw something in this profession to add it to the game so I ardently hope that they can acede to some of our requests.

I agree. I would never want to give up ID... but there may come a time when I have to. I'm hoping for LOTS of new features.

All that we know is that we're getting some nice changes to the interface in a few monthes (most likly two or three publishes after Vehicles go live).

We're not really high priority, as others mentioned. As the second most populated profession (After pikeman :x), and to compound that is that we have no direct effect on any other part of the game beyond changes people's toon graphic.

Listening to the folks who were around in Beta, I highly doubt ID will get much attention really, as many of our issues/ideas were brought up then as well.

To be truthful, I doubt we'll get much if any attention as the other more populated (and typically combat orientated) professions are numerous enough that an ugly 'balance'/'retune' cycle between them will persist and neglect many of the other professions.

It may not be unreasonable but, as Reiella pointed out, I think it is unlikely.

Actually, I think we will get our fixes sooner than later.

Most of the combat classes are being examined en masse by the combat-devoted devs, in conjunction with the Creature Handler dev and the crafting devs who decide exactly what weapons are capable of. Combat is a complicated, multi-faceted balancing act.

We, however, are almost entirely in the hands of the art team. What is our profession, but a user interface tied to some artwork? The art team isn't going to sit idly by, waiting for the combat personnel to be fixed first because it is somehow "more fair." No, the art team is drawing a paycheck and they're going to work on whatever is in front of them.

If the vehicles patch has just gone to the Test Center, then we know the art team isn't working on new art for vehicles. They might be working on more motion-capture stuff for various dances, NPC attacks, or emotes. They may be designing the interplanetary ships for the Space Expansion (or heck, that might have been finished a long time ago). They might be working on new planets, new dungeons, new bases, new houses, new clothing, more upcoming mounts... or new Image Design content. The point is, the combat devs working to balance the Carbineers and Bounty Hunters won't touch our artwork requests with a ten foot pole. Not their department, see?

I'm optimistic.

Hehe, the Art personnel are working on the Space Expansion, and fixing graphics for vehicles currently (Gah the hop skip is annoying ), and the new Bio-Engineer pets (actually that's just the Art Team QA mostly, since it's making sure color selections/etc fit).

Also, bit of difference here, I do wish to seperate the 'changes' from fixes . I think we'll get 'fixed' in terms of bugs (ie, missing options, most of which are getting cured stealthly). I also know we'll be getting the semi-major interface change 'soonish' (I'm thinking ~ March for that to show up, but will see).

Other aspect of trouble for Image Design is pretty much any 'new stuff' that we get needs to go through LucasArts canonization due to appearance. We already know some of our desired changes Are Not Going to Happen because of that. I fear that the majority of character appearance that LucasArts will approve is going to remain disturbingly similiar to the appearance selection we had at launch...

Doh me forget one.

The art team is also supposed to be working on new droids (was supposed to be soonish a few monthes ago, so who knows ), however, who knows if that will materialize or not :x.

And yea, I am pessimisstic. Heavily so. Given SoE's track record for attention to small population issues, and the involvement of a secondary QA entity.
