Holo grinders are fine with me as long as they don't:

  • insult the profession by saying it's stupid and useless

  • insult the profession by saying that it's easy (never mind that they used the no-mind exploit to grind up)

  • fail to recognize that expertise in the profession does not come from just grinding to master

  • call us 'gay'

  • ruin the economy by giving away free ID services

  • call us 'lame' for charging money for ID (after they spent over 100k in training while grinding up)

  • lament that this is the worst holocron profession ever

  • act extra-macho and insulting to prove that they are not 'gay'

  • brag that they hit master ID in 27 minutes (what that information does for us, I don't know)

  • ask the same stupid macro questions over and over and over without looking 2 posts down to find the answer

  • refuse to believe that there is no macro for accept

  • want advice on how to use exploits

So we can just get along, if they use common sense.

I'm grinding this profession at the moment and thus have visited your boards a few times.

Just like any profession I did after holocrons appeared in game, I will grind it out and drop it.

You say people who wish to grind this profession are not behaving with proper respect towards the people who really enjoy being an image designer and are just posting questionswithout checking any info already available here.

I did notice tho that this board more than any other has an extreme hostile general attitude when it comes to people who are intending to finish this profession a.s.a.p. which IMO is something the devs forced upon us.

We do not like or enjoy this profession like you do and most likely cannot pretend we do.

We just need or request a simple post with info of interest to people like me containing things like macro commands and XP to HAM comparison.

You can ignore such posts if flaming or similair comments are the only reply you can offer and request for any good post to be stickied on top to minimize new grinding posts to emerge. (posts with 20 flames and 1 macro or pointer are not especially helpfull)

I ,for one, will compile all found grinding info into a guide and post it in the guides section as soon as I'm done grinding, and hopefullly will decrease this sort of posts on your forum.

BTW. respect in-game does not come from the title you have floating above your head but the manner in which you utilize its potential to make other peoples and your own gaming experience as pleasant as possible. Thus no need to act hostile to someone grinding out your profession in hours which took you weeks.

I understand that most people who are going after their FS slot probably won't be getting professions they would like to do. I know if I were to get a holocron or two I would get strange combat professions that I know nothing about nor would I ever want to pursue. You're not entitled to like this profession, but what we would like is for those holocron grinders to show us some respect and courtesy. We'll give you all the help you ask for, but those who insult us and our profession are going to be met with more than a little hostitlity

You're never going to find a macro on these boards. Not from a true image designer who loves this profession. I'm with the rest of the folks around here....getting experience is much too easy, and creating a macro is VERY insulting, when we did take our time and learn the ins and outs of our trade. It will still take you the shortest amount of time to masterout of any profession you could hope to get. In a way, be thankful you got it, because you'll be that much closer to getting your jedi slot. But don't be mean or pushy about it. Please.

Actually Rianna, this is not true. I've posted my macro on here several times, so I'll thank you not to put words into my mouth or speak on my behalf. I am an image designer because I love it, not because some talking box told me to do it, but I have no problem with the ones who do it for the holocrons, as long as they treat us with the respect they would give any other profession. I also have zero problem with people using a macro, as long as they use it as the tool it was meant to be, and not as a crutch to get them to master as quickly as possible so they can then hound us with pointless questions that they might not have had to ask if they'd done their homework. I used a macro both times to master ID, but not until I had a clear understanding of my profession. For more details, please read the "work smarter, not harder" thread started by me. Fishwan brings up some EXCELLENT points.

As for Snoop, no one ever said you have to enjoy image design. But you DO have to treat us with some respect and common courtesy. We are very, very tired of people coming in here and slamming our profession, treating us as inferiors or substandard for the profession we have CHOSEN. It's unfair, belittling and just plain annoying.

There is a player on my server that got master ID as a holocron profession. While he was gaining master ID (which I don't think he ever used a macro on, more points for him) he discovered that he enjoyed it so much that he decided to keep it. This is what I love seeing.

I actually agree with NJ62. It's not the grinders that bother me. It's those that insult the profession - or those persuing that profession-while they are working on it.

To some small degree, I can understand being a master for a certain amount of time, and then giving it up and insulting the profession. While I CERTAINLY don't condone it, I can see how it would be a product of frustration, rather than just an insult that somebody threw out there to get a rise out of people.

I agree 100% I started out musician. I love it, i miss it and i **edit** sure am going back to it when i am done with the crazyness. People who play ID's are almost always some of the nicest folks in the game as is with all the entertainer type social profession players.

The holocrons have turned all the professions into a mockery of what they should be. Sure you can master but does mastering something really make you a master? Hell no.

Sure you can master doctor but do you really know how things work? Look at things like master armor smiths who would you buy armor from a master today master something else tomorrow or the guy that spends weeks searching for the right resources that make the best things.

Mastering anything is this game is fairly easy with the exception of bounty hunter, with from what i understand is very difficult. I have yet to stomp my way up that road but i will eventually.

People being rude about what other people choose to do in the game is very silly. Holocron hunters you came looking for advice, hints and tips. I am betting that you got that an a whole lot more because thats how the entertainer folks are, very giving and helpfull.

Don't be children and trash people after you got what you wanted.

Okay Im working on getting Master ID again for the second time (i started over). Image Design is my job in game and its fun for me. The fact they brought out holocrons doesnt bug me at all. If people need ID to get to Jedi go ahead...at least 90% of them drop it anyways. Although im sure some get hooked and decide to keep it...more power to em. I just have to say about all this...............

Cant we all just get along?

(bah okay im cheesy)

Actually, I have to disagree. I have posted some of the earliest macros still being used, & I go out of my way to give it to any aspiring image designer. Image Designer is one of those professions that is sort of useless until you are a full master, so I encourage everyone to just practice & get to master as soon as possible.
