Thread: UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG---is this an easy master?
Terlo, I'm going to go easy on you since you're new to the forums.
I want you to think about this for a moment, luv.The regular readers of this forum are folks like me you are here because we have chosen ID as our favorite profession - the one we love best - the one we enjoy engaging in when we log in to SWG. We gather here to share our experiences and advice, to hopefully provide feedback to the devs for future upgrades and embellishments to the profession. We have pride in mastering this profession with our skill, judgement, and artistry, not just skill boxes.
Since holocrons arrived, we're endured many hundreds of posts just like yours. They always begin with an expression os disgust, horror, frustration, etc, for being forced to endure this (insert derogatory term here) profession. Then, after they've insulted the profession we love, they ask us to help them trivialize it by letting them 'master' it with as little effort as possible.
If you think about it from our perspective for a moment, can you see how such a post might offend us? I'm sorry, Terlo, I will not be helping you with any macros or advice.

But that's not the point! I think he sincerely apologized and made it clear it wasn't a dislike of the profession itself but more of the TYPE of profession. He was hoping for a combat, and a non-com somewhat frustrated him. I was the same way in my Hologrinder days. I wanted a combat. First holo was M-ENT.. which I was close to anyway... second was Armorsmith. I, ah... never got further.
Notice the times of those posts.

Although, for what it's worth, I don't think it would have mattered. This type of post is the bane of my existence. He comes in to the forum, and when he could have made a respectable post - or better yet, read the stickied threads - instead he expressed his disgust at having to master something as HORRIBLE as ID when he would clearly rather have his feet gnawed off by rabid nunas.
I do not disdain those who choose to hologrind. I know that being a Jedi is a long-cherished dream of many, and the pinnacle of the game. All I ask for is respect. His original post was not respectful, and no amount of hasty, half-hearted apology can change that.
Sorry about the chastise thing, I rarely look at times as much as order of appearance. I'll try and pay more attention now...

Allright, so his original post wasn't exactly FLATTERING in it's opinion of our profession. But I sense more dissapointment than dislike. He doesn't think ID is a stupid profession, nor does he think it 'HORRIBLE'. It's just not what he wanted.
Sure, he didn't read the sticky threads. Yah, that's a problem. He should have. He apologized for it and it looks like he went and read them. Isn't that enough?
I don't find his apology half-hearted at all. Certianly it was better than a flame/troll of 'Jee! Just asking! You guys suck!'. We get enough of those.
Not trying to be a troll, just thinking we may have the wrong idea about the Hologrinder here.
