Thread: Leveling this Profession...

Something else I had thought about was maybe requiring materials, like the DNA that BEs have to use, to do our body modifications. I try to run ID as a business. I have a salon, and I also like traveling around to cantinas and clients, but I still have a hard time setting a price for my services. Without a cost of materials to go by, I dont think that Image Designers will ever be able to reach a consensus.

Proposal: Material requirement for ID

Styling Kits (similar in function to other crafting kits), disposable resources - inks and needles for tattoos, DNA forbody and facial mods, makeuppacks for hair/makeup changes.. things like that.

OK, I know I am going to get blasted for this but here it is anyways.

It seems to me that the only people who want a change in the way ID experience is done are the MASTER ID's. Coincidense? I don't think so. Of course you don't mind if they change how they do experience because you don't have to worry about it anymore, while people like myself who are only done the second tier of the tree would be royally pissed if this change happened. I'm not saying that you want the xp change so there will be less ID's but do you honestly believe that you would have been for making it harder to become a Master while you were trying to get there? I don't think so. You can post after me that you wouldn't have minded, it would have made it more special once you actually got it, well nuts to that! I think you're full of crap.

As far as the crafting makeup goes, I do agree with that, but not at the expense of making it harder for the people who didn't buy the game and try to master the professions in the first 30 minutes it came out, that's unfair.

Let me have it......

1) I agree with Grapnaw, If you didn't like the ID XP system as it is, why did you play the clicking game until you were a master, and then ask for the change? The XP system is plenty long enough, I have been grinding for about 2 weeks now, around 4 hours a night, and still am not a master.

2) If you think people are going to waste 92 skill points to do something part time, you are deluded. If someone is going to be an ID, even as a secondary profession, they can't stop part way through the tree, as there areimportant abilities in each tree, and in master, so that means a full 92 points are needed tobe a usefulID. Also, those people who are giving IDaway for free will quickly be swamped, and will come to realize that charging people is the only way to make it worththeir time, asit often takes at least 10 minutes for even the most simple of changes, if you want your client to be satisfied.

3) Crafting. If you want to craft items, go be a medic or artisan. Image design is in the entertainer tree, not the artisan tree, no other enetertainer has to grind crafting to achieve their desired profession, why do you feel that IDs should?

4) Extreme Colors. Why do people feel extreme colors should be kept to a minimum? People want unique avatars, color is part of that. So what if you see people with blue, pink, or green hair. That will just make people look more alien. Yes, none of the 'main' characters in the movies had extreme looks, but plenty of the background extras did. Who are we to say that people have to look like Han Solo rather than Aura Sing?

Lastly, this is a game. Let Image Designersmodify the image ofthose who want it however they want to be modified. Imersion in a chacter for a lot ofpeople is largely about modifying their avatar to look like they want, as much as bieng able to develop their skills how they want.

ZigFett,

Sorry, I should have clarified, I was responding more to the original post than anything else. I do not fault anyone who used the system that is in place to get where they are, but let everyone use it, not just the ones who bought the game the first day. Once again, not directed at you specifically ZigFett.

I never said I agreed that changes to xp are needed. I think that ID needs some changes, yes... but for the betterment of the classes place in the galaxy.

I cant help it how I xp'ed to master. SOE gave me the requirements, and I met them. For me though, as I have said in other forums, Master ID was only a milestone, not a destination. My character concept fitted well with the Master ID as a skillset, so now that I am master ID, I can start with my journey.

For what it is worth (very little) I think there are other classes in the game with FAR worse issues regarding XP and leveling and imbalance and such. *cough*creature handler*cough*commando*cough*
