Thread: If you could choose ONE thing to be in the next patch...
What are some of your suggestions for giving IDs some sort of game function other than make-up artists, Fish?
Personally I feel that disguises (via the covert to overt option) would be a natural expansion of image design abilities. As a rebel, helping my fellow freedom fighters escape detection from the Empire would bea prime goal of my character.
You wouldn't be any more of a target than anyone else, I don't think. Not unless changing someone's status granted you a TEF.
Well, Jen, since any military/combat benefit to the game does give a TEF, it'd be hard to justify having image designers not getting one for changing someone's military status. Even secure trade between a covert and an overt gives a TEF. Neutrals are forbidden from trading with overts. A medic can't even /drag someone with a TEF. That's how restrictive it is. So for us to change overt/covert status? Seems like that's TEF territory.
And if so, anything that gives an Image Designer a TEF spells the death knell for the neutral ID. I don't think it would be right for us to have to declare a faction in order to style someone's hair or to do their lipstick. "It would be unwise to curl this client's hair." Just seems silly to me. Besides, it would cut any ID's business in half if you couldn't work on someone of the opposite faction. That seems like a big downside to me. I get most of my business wandering between Bestine and Anchorhead and other heavily populated, declared faction towns.
I would like to see game effects for the ID such as a manufactured disguise kit that we could sell that would temporarily affect NPC faction (such as Meatlump, Alkhara, Blood Razor, etc). Wemight be able to sneak people past hostile factions in this way. The disguise kit might be effective for a client to use on himself as a way to sneak past Rebel or Imperial defenses temporarily, similar to a /maskscent used on NPCs or a camo kit. It shouldn't affect PVP, though, or disguise someone's Overt status from other players. That's just a griefing tool. I favor the use of a disguise kit for two reasons. One, it's saleable; two, it probably wouldn't last forever so the client would want to put on the disguise at the very last minute -- and as a profession we're not known for wandering the deserts of Lok looking for clients to disguise. A disguise put on at Nym's Stronghold would probably wear off by the time you got to your destination, and that's not very useful.
We might be able to speed up stat migration; we are personal trainers, after all. Perhaps we could bump their stat migration halfway to the destination for a significant mind cost. Or only a third of the way; someusefully large stat bump, anyway. We'd be in demand for a skill like that.
If we could actually do body tattoos, a faction-specific tattoo would be very useful for coverts because they would be able to prove their covert status by, say, taking off their shirt and showing their Imperial insignia on a shoulder. This isn't precisely a military benefit, but it would assist coverts in proving their loyalty without actually going overt. (And if the client resigns or switches factions, the faction-specific tattoo goes away. Just don't take off your shirt unless you want people to see your faction ID.)
Anyway, just my thoughts.

Unnatural Hair (and Eye Color for humans... I want purple eyes... hehe) Colors.
We have colored contacts, why not Trev?
More Zabrak Hairstyles would be my selfish choice, and the hair-color bug is right up there, but that has workarounds.

REAL facial hair instead of variations on 5 o'clock shadow...
Great Suggestion, I second it.
More hairstyles for unlocking the Master Image Designer skill tree. Preferably I would like to see two more styles eachfor short, medium, and long. A french braid at least; one of the most basic (and easily modelled) hair styles, and its not even in the game. And the Anikan Padewan style for the guys; lot of request for that one.
Some extra colors would be nice as well. True black, passion red, and platinum blonde are on the top of my list, with gothic blue, forest green, and pink not far behind.
Would also be nice if you could preview hair styles. We can preview everything else. Maybe they could give masters a special interface screen that would let both hair style and color be modified at once, with an active preview rendered kind of like during character generation. Wouldn't that be nice?
