this could get long

~one said "look in my bio" after a long ID session and chat, and it read "image designed by the lovely Va'ress" awwwww

~another said "wow, you are so patient, the last MID went seemed annoyed when I asked so many things"

~or when you get somebody that comes in that was referred by another customer of yours "soandso said you're the best"

~got a tell last night while i was running missions to finish of tkm "hey! you gave me a makeover last week, and i still absolutely love it "

~or just a simple "i love it" or "this is perfect, exactly what i wanted" and of course "thank you (soooo much!)"

those little things definitely make IDing worth it

I like to hear customers ask me if I really enjoyed it as much as it sounded like. Kinda makes me feel like Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman"

Sure, I love being told I'm good/great/the best as much as the next ID, but my fave thing to hear from a client is "wow, that's perfect."

A normal day for me on Wanderhome:

Client: Lady China, I trust you, just work your magic and I'll accept.

:30 minutes later with confrimation accepted:

:: Client has tranferred 750000 credits to your bank account ::

/tip me 50,000

Me: Marvelous, Darling!

Client: Thank you, see you next week!

Client: HOLY %$#&! So-and-So said it was impossible to make me look like Han Solo but you hit every feature on the nail!

/tip me 1,000,000 credits

Me: Of course darling, was So-and-So a free designer?

Client: Yes, how'd you know?

Me: You get what you pay for...

Client: Ain't that the truth! Here's a bit extra for the trouble...

/tip me 25,000 credits

Me: Marvelous, Darling!

Client: I don't know if I will ever need a change again, this is great! But I will tell all my friends!

Me: You'll be back...

Client: Hehe...see you later, Lady China /blowkiss /snog

Me: =P

Client: Lady China? You don't know me, I just got into playing 2 days ago and I needed a stat migration but someone told me that you were a stuck up witch and would laugh at me if I asked you to migrate my stats.

Me: :laughs:

Client: OMFG! LOL!

Me: Truth is, Darling I am boycotting the tents for stat migrations. It's not personal, but I will make you look like a goddess as a "welcome to Wanderhome present."

Client: Boycotting? Why?

Me: The devs didn't give us player city tents or terminals, which we begged them. Now if I want to do a stat migration I have to leave my home city on Lok. A city which cost me millions to erect and much time to get a decent flow of tourism in it so its not a big ghost town.

Client: Oh my, that's horrible. I can understand why you are angry. You would think the devs would understand all the time money and energy it must cost you to run a player city.

Me: I think I like you, what city did you say you were in?

Client: Bestine

Me: What a coincidence, meet me at the tent near the cantina.

Client: ok

:: 15 minutes later, and yes, I buckled and did her stat migration ::

Client: OMG! Thank you! Thank you! :hugs: I'm gonna tell everyone I see to go to you!

Me: Thank you, Darling. You come see me soon. (I suppose karma will bring me karma, let's hope)

Client: OMG! I look like Halley Berry!

Me: Halle Berry...Marvelous, Darling!

Client: =P

:: Client has placed 500000 credits into your bank account ::

Me: Marvelous!

Client: So who else can you make someone look like?

Me: Come see me next week and I'll show you. :grins:

Client: Hahaha! Will do!

/tip me 25000

To tell you the truth, I actually have more positive experiences than negative ones. I think we all do, it's just that the negative ones stand out more because they happen less often. Happy Designing!

"Make me look like Darth Maul"

...

No, I'm just kidding..

I love it when customers ask me if they can get a makeover similar to a previous customer's. I never give the same look twice, but I will gladly do a similar look. (I don't like to change someone's facial features drastically.. we're not all supermodels in real life, so why should every character have a chiseled jaw line and a defined chin, right?)

I also love it when customers say "Hey sure.. no prob.." when I tell them that I can't do a stat migration for them right that second. No questions asked.. it's nice to have someone actually understand that you have other things to do.

Also.. everyone's favorite.. "Holy crap that's amazing.. you changed one little thing and I look soo much better! How did you know thatit would happen???"

I know this thread is just a giant ego boost for the ID's.. but seriously.. sometimes we need a bit of an ego booster.. or we'd just end up turning all of our helmeted clients' hair pink.

Yay! Happy thoughts!

I've been at this for a while, so I have a pretty good idea of what looks good on what species, for what profession, etc. I think I'm one of the "oldest" IDs on Kauri. Anyway! I love being told "Wow, you're really good!" and "You're the best!" When ID was still supah-fast to Master, I had a lot of people coming to me to fix their messed up faces and that helped my reputation a lot at being good at what I do!

One of my favourite ID experiences was when a guildmate sent me his picture and asked me to make his character look like himself! So, I had the picture open, the ID interface open and go to work. It took a while (and a lot of alt+tabbing), but after a final hair colour change he exclaimed "PERFECT!" and gave me a heck of a lot of credits. Later that evening in guild chat people who knew the person in real life were telling me how freaky it was that his character looked like him. Yay!

The best part of my ID career and one of my favourite moments in this game was being voted as Best Image Designer of 2003 by my peers on the server.

Oh! And audiences watching you kill things is always great. I get it a lot on Ahazi since I don't wear a tag (TKM), am a female Zabrak, and hit things super fast!

BTW, this thread isn't an ego booster, although it does have that unintentional side effect. It's just an attempt to lighten up the negativity that abounds on this board sometimes... and also give our great customers a chance to shine, instead of dwelling so much on the bad ones.

Wow.

I feel stupid for wasting my time responding to a blatant flamer (and take that in any sense of the word, please). I should go read a book now to regain my lost IQ points.
