... btw, I get more one stars in here than I do in the Dancer Forum now. O.o Maybe this will help get rid of the meanies in here.

To be honest, small, spiteful people will find ways to be small and spiteful. This change isn't going to make that any different, it'll just have it expressed in a new form. That's why I said it'd be better to spend the time making linkies easier.

Well hopefully small, spiteful people will speak up and disagree with us rather than one star everything.

But then that would make them not small and spiteful. Hm.

Nevermind.

Yes, well, when the most cogent argument you can make ends up with more than half of the words changed to "**edit**" what else can you do?

Have you noticed that there are some people who cannot make a post with out the "**edit**" thing popping up at least once... if not more often? Swearing in every post does not make your case any better or make you seem any smarter!

Wow, I took this thread in a different direction.

Cussing on the forums…now there's an irony. Anyone who knows me IRL can attest to the fact that I swear like a sailor. In fact, I'm so bad about watching my language that I accidentally cussed in the office of the VP for the division I work in and I didn't even realize I'd done it until a coworker pointed it out—even then I didn't remember doing it. But I rarely swear on the forums. In large part it's because I'm an RPer, and I tend to slip into the Eicia persona on these forums—and Eicia doesn't cuss. But I think it's instructive that a foul mouthed thug like myself can overcome those propensities and make myself a coherent, mostly-clean-fingered individual—if I can do it, anyone can.

(No, seriously, if any of my IRL conversations were transcribed onto these forums I'm pretty sure the "**edits**" would outweigh the readable content. )

Heh... I've noticed that some words get changed to "**edit**" that I would never have thought to be swear words. For example: a certain diminutive of the proper name Richard is apparently regarded as a swear word by the forum censors and even though it is sometimes used as a euphimism I would never have thought that it would deserve to be be edited out.

I survived the CU

I can not survive the NGE

That one I believe—the two that surprise me are the children's show featuring the catchphrase "gotta catch 'em all" and a word meaning "to sieze and pinch or bite" that also happens to be a very outdated slander against the Japanese.

Yeah, but I've still been dropped from my old 4.1 to a 2.8.

Ow. Carpal tunnel. I couldn't get you back to 4.1 but at least you are over three.

Paks! Don't hurt yourself over my star rating! No good if the other evil female Wookiee gets gimped.

I doubt it was just me. I could see a bunch of 5-star sherrifs had been at work. No one like to see a Sad Wookiee, not even if she is an Evil Sad Wookiee.

Looks like ppl now try to bring their 'given' rating up by playing the 5-star sherrif...

Last time I looked at my own profile I realized that I seem to tend to punish really bad posts far easier than giving high-ratings to good posts... well maybe that's because there are sooooo many crappy ones out there... But I try to be positive in the future, too... but playing the 5-star-sherriff? nah!

I was Sheriff before I heard about this change. I'll stop now. See stopping. But I AM keeping the badge, just for good measure.

And keeping the badge has nothing to do with the fact it looks so nice with his vest!

Does "star rating given" even matter in your overall rating? I don't think it does.
