Thread: Poll: What is Image Design?
I go with #1.
I agree with #2 a little as well, but not to a huge extent.
Entertainers buff mind. And ID is considered an 'entertainer' so I could see us being able to buff. Or heal Battle fatigue. Musicians and dancers already do both, so I don't see why an Image designer should be left out.And I dunno how they could implement it- but a masage gets rid of fatigue and tension (or just puts people to sleep
) Maybe a literal spa of sorts would be a good idea- like a musician has an instrument. stick the client in the hot tub and buff... well I dunno there isn't any more blue bars left.
::wonders why medics can heal 6 bars of things but dancers one and musicians 2- only the secondary....::

While the armorsmiths posting on our forum did inspire this thread, I wanted us to discuss general things beyond what we do now. Not necessarily anything that might tread on the toes of other professionsAn example of something that has been suggested recently is allowing us to buff via massage.
buff via massage
I'm not a fan of IDs getting buffs, and really dislike the idea of them being a skill instead of a product we can make/sale. I'll reccommend that if we are going to get buffs that be in the form of;
- Muscle Lotions that buff Quickness
- Foot Ointments that buff Stamina
- Face Creams that buff Alertness
It would be just like real life and you go to your salon to get locations and hairspay, Well being a real man I don't do that but I hear it's done
general things beyond what we do now
With the upcoming Space Expansion and likelihood of new species being added, now is a good time to consider ID getting an specie changing skill. Because no-one can change their toons name changing species really does not give griefers any use for it, and I see no otherreason not to have it. I do believe I should be hard to do, and not just a big money sink by requiring a lot of resources. Instead I recommend it requiring two things,1-Master IDand 2-Foraged items. The "Foraged items" should be items that only an IDer can foraged, and maybe taking upto an hour (on average) to get enough to do an species change.
SirVoor, I really like your salon products ideas, especially impressive since as a real man you never go to salons
What do others think of having hypothetical ID buffing be in the form of a product versus a physical location thing?
On the species changing, LucasArts said no no
They also no no'd gender changes, and expanding torso beyond the max ![]()
::trying not to hijak the thread here.:: Aside from Lucas Arts saying no- At one point your post says that the creams would be more realistic, then the posts shifts into less realistic by advising species changes. I have to argue that IF (which it wont') it were implemented, only a bio-engineer could really pull it off. I mean, a complete genetic recalibration. An image designer may be a plasic surgeon- but they are not really capable of growing the extra tissue and bone matter required to make a Bothan a Wookie. Let alone make any other race beable to have Lekku that function. (In any way- especially with learning the language. Sure a person could probably mentally move them but it would likely be similar to trying to drive with a hook for a hand.) While the introduction of new species DOES seem like a good reason to allow the changing (which, I perosnally would like, as perhaps a one time option) it just does not seem plausible.
Um... Facial cream! :
uts the thread back?::
i want sex changes!!!!! =P
im a male zabrak, and i look out of place in what i wear and how i look... plus there is so much more clothes to wear as a female =D
I'm for answer 2, but the id should be limited to recolorseveral obejcts. Coloring Droids etc is something that should be left to the profession being able to craft them.
Let us just color nails, kanapees or plants
. However, the idea with the lotion is the best i've heard today

My blood chills at the thought of bringing crafting into ID....
I prefer the application of a skill to the crafting of a product.

I second that motion—I do enough crafting as a tailor. Just let me lay hands and move on. Besides, no other entertainer buff requires crafted materials—why should ours if we get one?
I have to vote no to # 2.
Image designers are beauticians. They are not interior decorators. They are not fashion designers. Until elite extension classes are added that allowed complementing classes to function as a new, more powerful whole (i.e. an Image Designer/Architect gains the title of Interior Decorator, an Image Designer/Tailor gains the title of Fashion Designer), I would have to be against this.
That being said, I did like the idea ofgiving massages.Or call it physical therapy. That fits in with the title and skills accrued through the Personal Trainer skill tree. I would have to argue against making it a buff, however. An athlete does not feel "buffed" after a massage. It is a restorative technique. They fell buffed after taking steroids ![]()
Rather, it should restore action wound damage. This fits. In the sports sector, doctors are able to repair "health" damage: Torn ligaments, extended knees, broken bones, scars, etc. But it is the plastic surgeon that prevents scarring, and it is the physical therapist that gets them back into action faster.
Really, action wounds should be the provence of IDs alone when you think about it. But there probably is not much of a chance getting that changed at this point, so maybe it would be nice if we could just buff the action pools ![]()
That, and when are they gonna let us ID vendors, darn it?!
