Thread: If there was a player ownable Salon, what would you want it to be like?

Well, really the only thing that I can think of that we'd need a structure, droid or terminal for is to do stat migrations away from the tent. I suspect that the devs will not want us to be able to use droids for one reason tho: It would be too easy for people to give stat migrations to people on the fly in the field that way. Although the 10-minute timer would still be a deterrant it might make the devs a bit squeamish nevertheless.


As far as structures, my lots are generally taken up by houses, harvesters, factories and whatnot so that would be less that ideal to me.


So, my first choice would be for a terminal that could be placed into one of my existing structures or perhaps my PA's cantina, to allow me to do migrations for them without having to shuttle back to Coronet.

Rather than a Salon or building, I would like to have a portable transport system that people could walk into and allow you to make changes through some type of a hallographic image. This would allow you to make changes on characters that were not in your local area. Perhaps restrict it to the same planet. This would allow you to not have to drop what your doing to help someone and speed up the process. Of course the transport system would be elegant and you could have the ability to pick the type of antimation. The unit could also present an on screenimage that others could watch as well.

I say the Devs do this, Put a Few New Houses Designs out, Tents being one of them, and maybe an ID Neon sign thats craftable by ID's, and then give us terminals where we can place anywhere inside a structure and do our ID work. I too have decorated a large tatooine house to be my salon and I hope I can keep it that way. I also live on Lok and I hate having to spend most of my time in Theed. IF I have a spot that my customers have a direct waypoint to, I can schedule appointments that is conveniant for both them and I.


I dont see why we have to choose between one of these options when all of them seem ok. I dont really like the Droid module idea because I dont really want to have a droid its agaisnt my character (Yes Im a roleplayer) but that doesnt mean you dont want the module, so devs add that for you. Now me and other people who want terminal for our house we can have that option. It gives us the ability to do our work where we want to and customize our place of buisness to match just such an area and we get the option of registering on the map as a MID.


The Gardens Idea I dont really like. Its Raining or a Sandstorm and you are trying to clip someones hair or take a laser scalpel to their face.?....ouch. But hey it might work for you so maybe Devs can add that too.


I see no reason in not being able to have all of these options in the game.

Heh, the garden part was partially because none of the houses have good useable outdoor spaces. There are some nice balconies and patios, but they are barren. I think outdoor space need to be better considered in future house designs. It is definitely not a dealbreaker for me but, seemed like our profession would be the one that might appreciate it the most.

Customizable guardens would be something I'd really love to see. But I think it won't be that easy to code and I don't think we will see something like this in the near future. But that doesn't mean that we cannot ask for it

I'd be happy if the houses came with patios and etc. just had a bench and a plant or too so we had no need to decorate them. Customizable ones would be awesome but,I think modifying the exterior of houses is tough to code and render.

I would want us to have a choice of tent colors and some new furnitures that can Only be placed in imager tents.

I think a choice of 3 background musics would be nice.

Definately a fee to enter since 90% of the population feel they should get even just a hairstyle free

I think a choice of a tent or building aswell should be applicable. Not all of us are down with these open door tents

And I feel a greeter of sorts that barks out who all is in line and what order they are in.

I agree. I think we need to have a place of our own to work. I would like to be able to do stat migrations for my guild in my own salon, for no other reason than that most of the time I don't like getting 'stuck' in the ID tent helping customers (awful I know, but true). I will work the NPC tents, don't get me wrong. I really enjoy it. But my main profession is Tailor, and I need a lot of time to restock my vendors, so getting stuck in a tent is a drag and keeps me from working ID more often than not.


As far as the player salons, i'm just going to throw some ideas out there....totally off the cuff (so don't hate me =P)


Types of salons that could be offered to us, how about a gazebo? The Lake Retreat on Naboo is one of the prettiest places IMO, and I was thinking along the lines of something in that style. This works well for Naboo style salons. On Corellia, maybe something more urban along the lines of the parking garage but a LOT nicer looking as far as inside decorations and making that back area accessible. On Lok and Tatooine (places where it hardly ever rains...granted there are sandstorms, but what's a little sand in your hair?! j/k =P)either atent or ID terminal that can be placed inside a city garden.


Anyway, I'm trying to keep the ideas limited to buildings already in use in the game....and I'm at work, so I'm having trouble recalling most of what's out there on each planet.


I agree that signage is key as well as planetary adverts.(or at least the ability to be on the planetary map with merchant skills).
