well ... LOL
B) I would love to have a nifty item to craft to sell to customers that I could sell on a vendor in my salon (if we ever get the ability to make our own salons) just as an added income of sorts. Nothing to complex, simple resources, but something that is desirable to customers - maybe just a little 5 charge holoemote and a 2 use compact (one for eyeshadow and one for lipstick with very limited colors - say 10 tops) thus allowing for two very basic services if there are no ID around to assist. Or maybe to align us with the GCW we could sell a one use "fake ID" that would nullify all negative faction for a period of say 1m-30m (1hr delay between uses) depending on quality of resource and ID skill but be able to ID a "fake ID" that lasts up to 3h (no delay between uses)(thus making the ID still more valueble, but allowing customers services if they cant find us). I think it is wonderful that all of you opposing crafting can make a living off of ID, but I for one do not enjoy staying cooped up in the salon all day long. They havent handed out ID mission terminals, I have no combat, I enjoy crafting, I leave my ID tag on so customers can find me using the search functions. With these items being made craftable by IDs, it isnt like you would be required to craft/sell them. They would be an added bonus to the ID who do wish to craft but I honestly do not see how anything like this could effect your current clientel. How many of your clients are going to go pay Xk for a 5 charge holo box if they are close to a salon where someone is actually located and they can get a 25 charge box? And think about the client side on the cosmetics. If you were not an ID, would you not think it would be awesome to be able to just change your makeup? I mean come on ppl ... anyone can put their makeup on in the morning, give these girls a break. Im not trying to be flamy or attack the ones who dont like the idea of adding crafting, but I really think that something small like this will help leveling ID. And rather than giving them crafting xp ... shoot, give them ID xp for it. It would sure be nice to be able to do something other than play with yourself when you are trying to get that xp in. Well, there is my 2 cents (or 200 cents it would appear hehe). I really wish some more ppl would jump on board with small craftable items like these.
Look at it like this
5 Charge Holo Box vs. 50 charge Holo Box
2 use compact w/10 colors vs. 100+ color option through ID session
30m Fake ID w/1hr delayvs. 3h Fake ID with no delay
Can you see that these would not be very highly in demand other than if the customers simply could not find an actual ID for these services, but would still give a little something for the ID to sell for some pocket change?
Small crafting items would be a great addition IMO.
i get it im out voted here on this ... but making items such as listed above would make crafting extremely optional. LOL i cant believe im the only one who wants crafting LOL. Personally, i think that all non-combat should have a little bit of crafting in their prof ... the only 2 that dont are ID and dancer. Even musicians can craft. if they want ent to be full non craft, then they need to give the instruments to artisans.
Musicians shouldthe ones who craft the new radios and be able to place a droid playback module in them for recording (radio would then act as a stationary droid w/playback when dropped in a structure - /listen on the radio would allow player to hear the music) along with their instruments.
Dancers should have a holo image terminal to craft and be able to place a droid playback module in them for recording (only would record the character or if they are in a group all group members doing their routine - /watch on the terminal would allow player to see the performance) along with dancing batons (rather than seeingALL the dancers holding large swords for balance).
ID as listed above.

Musicians can craft instruments and the playback modules for the entertainer droids. Neither of those items is an item that the general public can use. There isn't a large market for their craftables so they can usually make do with a small amount of resources without having to deal with harvesting and marketing. Most of their needs can be handled through the bazaar, so they don't have to sink points into merchant to get a fair price for their product.
Likely SOE gave musicians the ability to craft their own instruments because their XP is totally dependent on them having the instruments. The other classes that have crafting also need to either create items or have specific items to further their own xp. Dancers and IDs do not have to possess any item to progress in their skills.
Last I knew, most entertainers weren't in the least bit interested in crafting items that would produce music or visuals. It's been brought up a number of times on the musician and dancer boards and was decisively shot down, just like it was here.
One issue I see with crafting and selling cosmetics... I have 256 colors in my makeup pallets. I am the one with the experience in choosing colors that work for a customer, and my name is associated with that experience and skill. If someone picks up a totally wrong color, I am not there to advise against it, or suggest a more suitable match. In real life, if someone picks a totally hideous color, soap and water will fix the problem. If there's only one tube of lipstick on the bazaar and they already used to to make their lips neon puke color, then they're stuck with that color until they find another tube or an ID to fix it.
As far as the customer being able to change their own makeup and such, if they want to do it without an ID, then let them spend the skill points to do it. I'd love to heal my own wounds quickly, fire a flamethrower, or have a kimogila, but people spend their points and time to be better at those things.
No offense, you seem to enjoy crafting... but a good number of us just aren't interested.
