What exactly made you folks want to join a combat oriented game and adjust appearances? I'm curious. Also would like to know what you are getting outa the curb?

FunnyI thought that had to do with the combat based professions anyways..don't really exspect to see much at all for IDs come from it.

As for joining a combat oriented game..I was looking at it as joining a MMORPG, period, not just a fight fest.
I started as Brawler on Ani..and she turned into a Crafter..soI would not say it is fully combat based.

And adjusting appearences..most everyone wants personlization and customization in any game or way of life,
Being the person who can help provide that is definatly somethingI think is worth doing.

What makes people want to join a combat oriented game and become a crafter? Because its fun.

Didn't you have fun creating your character at first creation? Aren't you glad you can modify it so you don't have to stare at the same hair style year after year? People like to change and personalize their toons, and we like to help them do it. Its fun.

I play ID because I enjoy it and it adds variety to my template. I've never really got into the whole PvP scene so one combat proffesion mastery is enough for me

I don't expect much from the CU but I'd like to see something implemented that replaces our loss of stat migrations, even though they're boring

It's a combat based game?! No one told me THAT!

I play this game because there's *much* more to be had than just combat. There are a wide variety of professions and playstyles supported here. If I wanted to, I could become a creature handler and hunt that perfect baby, or pitch a tent in the middle of nowhere and dance for just myself... I can make someone look better than they ever dreamed possible. I can be an Imperial fighter pilot, or a bounty hunter chasing down my prey. I can be the mayor of a flourishing town. My imagination is sparked by the wonder of just cruising through space in my Sorosuub. I can decorate my house with the perfect accessories. I can chat for hours with people from all different professions... I can hear their war stories and let them show off their pets. I can commiserate with them when they suffer defeats, or be elated with their victories.

If I wanted just combat, I'd play an FPS. SWG is so much more than just combat.

Customers who use it at ALL make me want to punch them in the head.

Anyway, as for why I bought the game and then took a noncombat route - several reasons.

1. I tried ID and loved it, and ended up being really good at it.

2. I can only punch/stab/shoot rancors for so long.

3. At the end of the day, I am a social person. I play this game primarily for the community. Does that mean I could play this game without serving a viable purpose, and just sit around and talk to people all day? No. But it's nice to be able to do that WHILE I'm changing someone's hairstyle/making someone a dress/giving someone a mind buff/shooting rancors.

I think NJ and FushiaD said it all...

and I want to add that after playing ID for some time I really miss this profession (plus all the other social ones) greatly in all those other games out there

I REALLY appreciate all of your posts. I simply had to ask the question I have pondered over for a long time. Honestly, I simply forgot the social aspect that ID could provide. Good on ya! Quite frankly I've not come across an ID yet that has been rude or unfriendly.

Thank you all for answereing my question!

I joined this game because as a MMORPG it was leading the way by offering more than just combat - read the box...

It was first game out there that its sole focus wasn't on combat.

I never played for the combat aspect of the game. When I was posting in the forums pre-beta, I said to myself, "I'm gonna be a entertainer... no an image designer!" While combat can be fun, we all know image is everything. What good is killing jedi if you cannot look good doing it? I enjoy making that happen... image!

As far as the CU, all I see us getting is a big shaft! They are killing entertainers by taking away 3 healing trees. Lord knows what they will replace them with on a grand scale. ID's will be getting nothing new, not surprising. You could call us the smugglers of the non-combat trees. The only love we got so far are 2 bug fixes, a color palatte long over due (all non combat professiosn had a full color palatte except us), and the burdeon of being the only ones available to do stat migrations. (Honestly we never wanted that). Oh we did get really nice tents that made our valuable time inconvienienced! Nothing like getting a tell to do image design while on Lok and the poor fencer says they just want a statmigration and can I come to Coronet...

Oh, and fix the entertainer profession....

I liked this game for the RP aspects & had always plannedon creatingtwin Jedi, even before I finally bought the game. The character creation part of the game was extremely cool to me when I first did it... and knowing that I would eventually be getting another account to make my twin & that I am a perfectionist & would not trust their looks in the hands of anyone else, becoming a master ID was my first priority.

Yeah, there's the social aspect of ID, but you can be social with just about every profession... what I really liked about ID was the level of creativity & individualism you can achieve in creating a character. It's like making art. No other profession in the game takes this concept as far as ID does. Maybe Tailor is a close second due to the combinations of colors & individual pieces you can put together to make outfits, but all the other crafting or creative professions are very limited in this respect.
