Ive been playing this game for 6 months. I am 1/1/1/1 Rifleman, 0/1/0/4 weaponsmith and have mastered a couple of basic profs. I'm not what you call a grinder or power gamer. I open my xmas holo and what do i get--Image designer. If i had to choose 1 prof to not be, CH would be first, but this would be 2nd. I have never wondered about this class nor ever used it. I am happy for those of you that enjoy it. At one time, I was a dancer, but had to give it up as skill pts ran short.

I see a lot of indignant IDs on the board directing their venom to people like me. Tell me, what am I to do? Give up ever opening a FS slot so as not to offend you? SOE has given me no choice but to do this prof if I want to open my slot. Im in no grand hurry to do that, but it would be nice some day. So, i would like to get this over as quickly as possible and move on. Maybe I'll give my wookiee an orange afro or something. Anyway, give us a break. Its not like I wanna give up all my artisan, scout and marksman XP that I did want so that I can change my eyelash color, but I didnt invent this jedi system. If I was confident that ANY entertainer prof would fulfill my holo slot, I would do musician or dancer ina heartbeat and enjoy it. But im not wiping half my current skills on a guess.

At the rate you currently gain skill,,,you wont likely open your slot for 3-4 years,,and it might take you 6 months to master id,,so your playstyle really isnt an issue on this board.

Other than that ,,just try not to get makeup on your clothes,,cover yourself when it rains so your fur stays nice and fluffy,,and be patient when someone cant make up their mind about a tatoo and asks to see all 20 again,,and then tips you 100 for your time.

And feel free to drop in and admit later on that this profession can be fun,,others have been surprised,,so keep an open mind,,

I think that everyone who is hardcore into a profession (whether it be ID, DE, TKA, ANYTHING) is cheesed off at the holos directioning people to grind their profession. With that said, the people on this board seem to be the angriest of all, or perhaps are the most verbal about their anger. I also think it is funny (yes funny) how if any holo grinder comes and asks for advice on this forum, how they are shot down and personally insulted (I can think of one post where someone was called lazy-among other things- and I highly doubt a personal attack was necessary- however, I have noticed the "attacker" doing that to many people, hopefully out of frustration).

I know many people who were pointed to the path of ID, grinded up it as quickly as possible, and dropped it as soon as they made it. I honestly do not think that it is ID grinders that anyone should be concerned about. Most people do not want ID, and because of that, they are not attempting to take business away from the serious Image Designers.

I think the major concern of the image designers on this forum is just how disrespectful so many grinders are, and the people in this game in general.But then anyone who has mastered an entertainer skill feels that way because entertainers are less "valuable" or some such nonsense. Not long ago, I dropped Master Dancer because I was sick of being regarded as a sex object/worthless player who got no respect. I'm sure eventually I will drop ID for the same reason... but it won't be as soon as I master it.

if any of you IDs open your holo, and get weaponsmith or rifleman, I'll be happy to tell you the fastest wat to get through it. The reason I go slow is not because I can't go fast, its just that I have no desire to sit and build blaster rifle barrels for 3 hrs in a row. I can stand to grind for about 30 min to 1 hr max, then i end up talking to people or doing something else.I understand the game. I'm sure you are like me. You enjoy being your class, but would like to open the FS slot and so you will grind a prof you have no interest in, while keeping the main skills of your char intact.

Having said that, can you please tell me the best way to get thru this prof. I respect your time and effort to actually play it, please respect my desire to open my FS slot and not play this prof. Tho I am sure I will try it a little once I get up the tree. Its no insult to you that us holo grinders dont want to play the prof. If i could choose differently, I would pick a prof that interested me and actually play it on the way up.

I have seen many people use macros or somthing that enabled me to click non-stop (the **edit** accept window would not go away practically). I have no idea how they did this. It may be an exploit.

So, here I am, grinding out ID due to silent holocrons. The best thing to do, is get stocked up on muon gold, corellian Ice Cream, ice blasters, dweezel, or any other mind food/spice/drink. Also, a mind buff from a master musician would help, but even with a master dual mind buff (dancer/musician) i still needed to augment my mind with some foods. Without the buffs, 1 MG and 1 Cor. Icecream keept me full.

try this out, it works the same on you, or whoever you have targeted.

/image;

/pause 1.5;

/ui action toolbarSlot00;

The only pain is that you must line up all the boxes so that the selection you want is overtop of the next so to minimize the mouse movement. Just click away. But, if you are doing it on a person, it is easy to click off of them and have it start ID'n yourself. I havnt found the command to target the someone in the group (if there is one), so if there is and you find it, just throw that command in the beggining of the macro.

I know how you feel. ID is fun, but it is not what I want to do. I want to get thru it as fast as I can and press on. I will have fun with it, not totally just throw it out, but it will be something I dont think I will go back to.

I do respect the ID'rs in the game. I have used them many times for a new look and tip them very well for it. I do not plan on taking any business from an "Pro ID'rs", execpt for myself and guildmates. And perhaps for the player that lets me change their weight for an hour. They will get whatever ID change i can give em.

i may be hosed. I am a wookiee and cant design anything on myself at the beginner level. I see that on others I can change only the hair. I may open a second account i guess to have a target. Who the hell is gonna let me work them over for grinding xp.......

I honestly can't see why anyone would grind ID on their self. I got to master totally by grinding on other people. It's a whole lot faster! I made friends with entertainers in Cantina's and a lot of them left me grind ont hem for a while. If no one would offer to let me, I then offered to pay them for their time. If you get a mind buff and a couple crates of moun Gold, it will go pretty quick. I recommend going up the body form line first. They gave me the most exp, but also a big mind hit. However, with buffs and drugs, you should be able to go like crazy for 10 minutes at a time.

I 'grinded' myself (that sounds soooooooooo bad) becasue I dont like to put out people. I play a lot late at night, early morning where most people are afk. And those that are on are busy doing things. I will ask people, and offer them 10k for 10 min of their time, and any free ID i can do for them for one round of MG.

I recommend going up the face structures first. Body form does yield great exp, but unless someone knows the command to change weight ( i looked, and didt see it listed), then you have to really click. But cheeks can be commanded value, and therefore you get the 125 exp as fast as the customer/helper can click.

I play a Dancer on one server. I've allowed myself to be grinded upon before.

And some people are very accomodating when it comes to ID. Some holocron people will be a guinea pig just because they want you to be a guinea pig for something they're doing.

Dancers and Musicians are often good candidates for this. If they use a macro in the background to keep flourishes going, then they can click Accept a lot. And when I use such an Entertainer, I make sure to tip him for his time. After all, he is missing out on greeting customers and earning potential tips (although on my server, the Theed cantina has no fear of tips).

I am following ID due to a Holocron, but ironically, it's with the wrong character. I refused to open my Dancer's holo because I would end up dumping Dancer to follow that pipe dream. But my other character (who had vague dreams of Combat Medic and Ranger) was basically a clean slate. I had a good chuckle when that character has ID on his list.

But I plan to make the best of ID. I don't find it boring; it's just something that my staunch Imperial character would find "frivolous." Same with dancing. My Dancer character likes both of those. My Ranger/CM would not. But he got word from his superior officers to learn image design. After all, the Imperial officers have to get their haircuts, right? My soldier doesn't understand his orders; he just follows them.

That's the take I'm going with.

I'm sad that I'm going to use and abuse the IDs, though. But I tip for each of my training and talk with them about what I'm doing. So it won't be completely transient.

I just hope my other professions are Scout, Marksman, Medic, and Ranger. *grin* I somehow doubt it.

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

I'll say the same thing I told a guy on the dancer boards.

I am sorry that you are being forced into a profession that clashes with your personality. It is not fair to force such professions onto people like that. (I wouldn't want to craft. Some don't want to fight etc ) But do NOT point a finger at US and say that we are to blame. We do NOT have to like it any more than you do, nor do we have to sympathise with you. (Ok, my other letter was much nicer, but now I'm miffed at hearing how we are so wrong all the time).

It's not fair to you. But it is not fair to us. What we were being so Snobbish about all the time is that people were using exploits so we would not give out the base command line so that the exploit could not continue to be used. (Which did harm our profession by allowing any smoe to use it, not just ID)

We are not obligated to give out macros. However, if you look at the top we gave you a sticky thread that would answer most questions. AND there is a search feature that will do it as well. We have answered many questions (Since in the begining we had the same ones- wether we were holoing or legit.) So if you search through all those threads and the STICKY does not help you, or you still do not understand something THEN explain that! If we know that you actually were working then we are more likely to be inclined to help. (I won't help anyone who has the ability to do their own research and didn't.)

Do not tell us that we have to accept you. No, it's not fair that you have to do some 'Lamo profession that you hate' but it's not fair to tell us that we have to like it. This is an easy profession to master if you have some shmoe who you feel like forcing to hit accept all the time.

READ the sticky. Sit down with some spice and mind buffs. Master. Then move on please.

Oh, oh, yeah. Self-righteous indignation... synonymous with 'sick-and-tired-of-coddling-people-too-lazy-to-read-the-sticky-post'

::sighs:: I tend to be diplomatic.But I refuse to appologise for the truth. The searching helped you so apparently it was not ill given advice. Neither was the advice o use the macro, master and move on with your holocron. Seems like that was exactly what you wanted, right?

Goodness, Can't even help a guy out anymore huh?
