I was going to writea response to some of the concerns/questions Darkagent voicedin another thread but figured I'd just doan update
I have no idea when our mini publish will be hitting TC. From what I've seen, the devs themselves don't know when something will go to TC until a week before at the very earliest. That's just the nature of coding
TH's estimate was maybe early May so I'll be askingfor an etavery soon
I've asked TH for an early screenshot or two, which he was looking into with PR, I'll ask for an update today.
It's been a long time since I explained why we never got any In Development threads. One reason is that I was involved in the planning of the mini publish in the In Concept stage, not the usual order of business. So I've been communicating with our dev and Thunderheart, and to a much smaller extent withthe art director and lead designer since early February. The other reason we did not have In Devp threads is that the devs are aware of what open communication we have in this community. We have so many polls and discussions, many not started by me
and the community always provides awesome constructive feedback. For various things that have come up, our dev(who did both design work during the in concept/devp phases, and coding more recently) has been able to look in the appropriate discussion thread to see what you guys really want. And a couple oftimes he's asked me to create a discussion or poll for him to lurk in
Having me involved in the process really did turn out to be exactly that. Some tweaksand additions were made based on my feedback, based on your wishes. There remain one or two things I'm not crazy about (such as no player city tents), but a game design reason was always provided and it was always understandable. That said, it's been my experience that the devs are always willing to consider what various factions of players are asking for (and we don't always agree) and reevaluate their decisions (even if it means nothing changing).
Thunderheart did tell me he'd create an In Development thread if anything came up that I felt needed a structured discussion. The IDbuildings not being player city buildings were definitely something I've been chewing my nails over for the past couple of months but the devs ended up reading through our four page monster of a thread where we all gave our opinions. I still haven't heard back on what decision was reached on that... Theywill definitely wantto see how things go with the mini publish.
I know many of you are wanting details on the tents' functions. I did ask TH about whether we could get more info out and apparently it's still too early. Last week for example I was told of onelittle thing that might change. I'll keep nagging about getting info out to you guys as soon as it's a definite go
Just know that it does not involve any new art content.
And in the future? The only thing I'd heard was under discussion, and which TH stated himself was being considered in one of his ID forum posts, was tattoos
I hope they happen!!
Tattoos are probably my number one wish list item, followed closely by blue hair and big butts of course
If you have any questions/concerns please post them here

ID Tents won't have a function until after the mini publish...which reminds me I need to get some sort of thread prepared for people coming to find out what's what.

Not to be too overly negative, but how are we supposed to know what needs discussing, and discuss it in an intelligent manner, if we don't know what they're doing? I'm hoping against hope that our preferences were interpreted correctly, but it would be/have been really nice if we had the chance to see what direction they were going in and give it those gentle nudges it may have needed.

I know
Andthat's consideringour community hasgottenWAY more info WAY earlier in the process than any other to date that I know of. I'll pass on these concerns now that we're really close to TC time.

*sighs* Unfortunately, it comes down to a very valid argument—in short, people are stupid. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people post threads on the Swordsman forum screaming that mind damage is going to be done away with, all because of a misinterpretation of an offhanded remark made by a dev about bringing mind damage into line with health and action damage.

There is something confusing me, we been told that the reason for no new hairstyle, ridges, horns, etc, etcis because the art team isworking onSWG: SE JtL, but the art team had time for particle effects, a new tent, and may do tattoos. I'm notunhappy, complaningor anything, just confused
to me it seems like some of the newart they have done is more work then otherart we want.

I'm told hairstyles are VERY VERY labor intensive. Here is what was given to me as an example... In the time it took them to do all of the art stuff for our mini publish they would havebeen able to give us maybeone hairstyle per species/gender combo. It was felt we'd get much more out of their time if they did all the art we're getting: Tent, new colors, new user interface, particle effects. I'm told that in early beta (I got in late) there was a lot of testing and tweaking of the hairstyles we now have.

Thanks Kwee,
I'm very happy with their decision
"one hairstyle per species/gender combo", Hmmm? it must of have been those long hair Wookiees that would have taken so much time, it takes for ever to dry their hair..... ![]()

You know, my fiance is a computer teacher and got a program that just rocks called Animation Master. Since I went to college to DO computer art I tinkered with the thing for a while (this program does Veggie Tales if anyone's heard of it. So it's pretty neat) And the hardest thing in the whole program (a program specifically designed to not need a ton of other programs....)
Is hair. It's hard to give it enough "bones" to be flexible, to keep it simple and yet complex so you get healthy motion that won't lag every compluter. To keep it looking like 'hair' and not like some freakish block on your head. To also have it close enough to the 'skull' to keep lag form sending it elsewhere (we have witnessed that hair is NOT part of the body with the 'bald' issue. And if you can /open someone then not only do their clothes dissapear, so does the hair.)
While it irritates me that they don't even do things like... oh, make certain Rodian felames styles available to the Zabrak, or certain human styles (like the spiral on the head) available to Zabs, or the human bob for human and bothan.... or even just change a bit of coding and make a few male bothan styles available for female bothan.....
It sounds easy in theory, and I was rabidly talking to my fiance who uses the program more than I do, and he had to calmly explain that it SOUNDS easy. But the 'skull' for the human female is NOT the same as for the human male. So to make a male style fit a female, the entire connecting point of the hair needs to be readjusted. If one part is readjusted and you want it to still retain all those little intricacies.... then a heck of a lot more need to be changed. So you don't have hair bleeding through your cheek or something.
It seems easy to do a Trandoshan's ridges. But I'm sure that there's a lot more to it than we understand. Drives me nuts but I'm willing to not foam at the mouth for a while (no matter how tempting it ma be, or howgood at it I amhehehe)

I'm concerned that you rank blue hair above big butts

Well I think Kwee that you are extremely patient with the rest of us..Personally I am I guess complaining but not meaning to lol. I just am excited about the possible changes and am impatient bc I think this will help and will be a wonderful thing for our profession. I feel like a kid in the candy store who's mom says no candy for you, you can only look lol.
Thanks hon for letting us know. I will pass the info to my clients hehe.

Voor you just need one of the nifty new Wookiee hairdryers...it also doubles as a Speederbike Swoop! Now that's versatility!
