The trouble with the long timer is actually even greater than anyone is pointing out. You have to wait with your entire screen covered by the huge ID UI. This means you can't see anything that is going on around you, you can't interact with people who come in, you will probably miss half of the chat since your chat box is covered up by the UI... you get my point I think. This will take away a lot of our ability to be social *which is why I am an ID in the first place*.So, lets wait 10 minutes... in a stupid tent where I don't want to be.... with a mega cranky l33t d00d.... who is apt to run off 9 mins into the 10 so he can kill someone at the starport. /sigh


I've already turned off my Master Image Designer title in anticipation.

Oh yeah, tents: if the delay stays in for MIDs tents need to be player placeable. There are many of us that RP our ID sessions in buildings we've decorated for that purpose, to penalize us for RPing is not only absurd, but totally wrong. It would be nice if the terminals are player-placeable as well so that we can serve the needs of our communities in our communities, but since I hate the concept of IDs being the only way to migrate I doubt I'll do this for anyone other than myself, so it doesn't much matter to me.

Edit: Yay, 1000 posts for me. *puts on party hat, keeping scythe handy for anyone that shows up to said party with a holo-emote *

Funny you should say that. Because outside of game I am straightedge but in game my IDer is a massive Muon Gold and Brandy fiend. More or less, Ihelia is always under the influence. But that's more because I am almost constantly IDing or fencing or other. So I think maybe a few of us won't see much of a change from that aspect haha,

Hey Kwee! Miss your face around Skystone.

I'm posting issues as I see them on TC in the In-Testing threads but came to say if there are two things I would ask you to go to bat for (after all the actual hairballs are worked out)... they are:

1) Multiple changes need to give exp for all (final) changes made (and accepted) within the 2 min timer. Either that or get rid of the timer completely.

2) ID tents craftable by architects and placeable by Master ID's in player cities. Our game lives center around our player cities now. It is UNFUN(tm) to be forced to hike to an NPC city to do business.


Currently at entertainer level, one of my toons is currently getting 100 exp per 2 min. Thats 10+ hours of CONSTANT ID'ing *if* you have a willing victim just to get through the entertainer ID tree. No way that is on par with mastering other basic professions. Not even close.

It needed to be harder but... this is like they cut off the whole head to fix the hairdo! :/

I'll point out again that the timer should be post-change, not pre-change and should be related to what changes were made, similar to the medic timer. There's absolutely no point to forcing an ID to wait 5 minutes to make someone tall and skinny, but forcing them to wait until they can make the next person tall and skinny makes a whole lot more sense. I mean, this is intended to stop grinding as we've know it, right? The pre-wait is an inconvenience to everyone, the post-wait only to grinders. Implement it in a way to least impact those whose playstyle you don't seek to change.


Edit: one other "for the zillionth time." If we had been told candidly about the changes as they occurred we could have addressed this issue weeks ago and had a product much closer to being ready for live at this point. We need to know what's going on! Without information we may as well just close down the In Concept/In Development threads—there's just no point to them otherwise. SOE has made a huge effort at improving communications, and for that I applaud them. But this minipublish is a HUGE step backwards when it comes to disclosure. It's a mistake I hope not to see repeated.

"just by chance" I started a couple of entertainer characters on TC about a week ago and had just started looking at the ID tree when this update arrived.

[positive note] Well, it does LOOK lovely and the new features seem interesting enough to make me want to give it a try on Live.

BUT

[negative-ish bit] (soz) The two minute timer is a complete killer. Working between the two characters I am experiencing gameplay as both a IDer and an IDee. OK, not much conversation between my characters, so that'd be different on Live, but, just to get the first couple of boxes as an entertainer is mind numbing. (I might be a TEENY bit narked atm as I'm doing Master Scout on Live, yippee, hours of camping, camping and more camping, while working my way through the combat points to get to Novice Commando. yep, kill, kill and kill some more... hey, just half a planet worth of stuff to shoot before doing any thing constructive again)

Hope that was balanced enough, Kwee??

Final +ve. Despite all this, I STILL want to get back to entertainer / ID again and work at it.
