Thread: Stolen Idea, Please Respond!

Ok im basing this suggestion off of things i don't know too much about but tell me what you think.

I know a lot of us want player city ID tents which I think would be very cool but the Dev's don't seem to think so (yet). So i had a better idea. Why not Theaters?

Bear with me, and hear me out. Theaters (as far as I know) need a Metropolis to be placed in. If I'm wrong please let me know as I need to contact my Mayor :-P

Since they are (fairly) hard to place they can't possible be over done. Also its not like Theaters have a use right now anyway. AND get this. The only reason you might need a Theater right now is to hold RP events (which i fully support) so what better way to augment this than allow a Master ID a way to change people's images instantly (see new patch). Now I can have my dream of putting on a play in a Theater because I can change looks as the play goes (gotta find a good Tailor though heheh). So everyone gets what they want. Player city ID tents, not overdone (since it requires a metropolis) and RP'ers can have their fun with an ID (or using their ID skills).

Tell me what you think guys? Its certainly possible from a technical standpoint. It wouldn't even require more art! We could decorate it ourselves. And the devs can't complain that its too easy, you try asking your Mayor just to drop a Theater in the center of town so you can ID :-P.

I think that a theater wouldbe an acceptable place to find an image designer however, theaters are near useless even as a roleplay venue. Nothing can be placed in the exterior area of it making it difficult to set any sort of scene for a play, musicians can't usenalargons or ommni boxes, and musician/dancer/droidspecial effects don't displayas their initiation point is set to the ground below the theater.

I agree with you though, Image Designers should get timer bonuses in player theaters, along with the rest of the fixes they need to be made useful.

I like the idea, too. Actors actually NEED image designers for their outifts and costumes and you won't find a theatre without those funny mirrors in the backrooms. So placing one of our Terminals in the backroom would be a nice solution.

I think that's a grand idea. I'd love to see the theaters used more.

I like the idea of useful theaters and TechnoCan makes a good point that actors would need Image Designers so a theater would be an obvious point of work for aplayer-placed city.

Perhaps when the devs find time they can repair the theaters so that they do become a more city-useful building. Repair the floors, spruce up the walls, add some new decorations (or let us add some new decorations).

Another idea I thought about was ID droids. I'm very curious why they haven't made one yet. We could use them just like the tents in cutting the times down.

The only problem with making ID possible in theatres is that there are a whole bunch of theatres and only a very few Image Designers. We don't want what happened to cantina performers to happen to us. If we're spread so thinly among venues, customers will have a lotless chance to find IDs than they have now (and some are already complaining that there aren't enough of us about), so they'll start shouting for IDs and spamming those of us with our tags up demanding service. I think the developers are right on the ball (about the only time you'll hear me say that) by keeping ID tents very rare. I wish they'd do the same for cantina performers by reducing the numbers of cantinas so that we could spread out and have some chance of finding another entertainer in a cantina other than Theed or Coronet.

Since June 2004, running one of the game's first completely nonviolent characters. Testing the limits of non-combat MMORPG play and trying to have fun into the bargain (although the developers make it difficult).

Combat is no longer compulsory.

Well i was just hoping to get enough people to sign up that they dev's would actually consider it. Who knows.

I think this is actually the reason why the devs havn't given us a player city ID-tent (or terminals or droid-module) yet and why they shy from doing it soon.

Sad, but true, there are quite few IDs around and too many are in the hiding for their own reasons.

Things need to settle down a bit more, before the devs will give us any of the possible player placeable ID-terminals/buildings/modules.

Nonetheless: the Theatres would be a logical place to allow placing of one of the ID-terminals.

I dislike the way that player placable theaters are designed. They are virtually worthless. In my opinion, the player placable cantina is superior as a location to hold plays as you can decorate the stage.

I also would not want to have to live in a metropolis (or even a city) in order to be able to do ID work in my player town.
