I used to work with set prices (Pani's) but then i found out that from other ID's that prices fluctuated waaaaay too much.. One of the other reasons that i asked a set price was to earn my training money back.. I'm way past that now

If wewereNOT toget a secure pay system would you:

c) Ask for tips, i already do

Same reason as before.. it's just fairer to people to ask for a tip.. they judge you by your work..

Assume you were to adopt a price list. What would be:

Well.. since i don't work with set prices anymore i don't really mind (it also depends on Server and amount of ID's present) but i doplan to charge for Kewldoods wanting neon haircolor... If they have the time to RP with me while changing and such (10 minutes or so, i don't ask for much) then they will get a discount.. If they "use" me to look Ub4rL33t then they better have the cash to back their attitude..This is after all an mmoRPG

I'll likely stick to;

/alias ITIP To start I need ?k to cover the Impearl luxury tax; and when we are finished most customersnormally tip; just tip whatever you feel is appropriate for my time will be more than sufficient.

Because I know so little about accessories I can't really say what I will do for them, but for really cool stuff I will make a price list. And for stuff I don't like (pink/green Woookiees) I'll place a really big price tag on.

I already use a price list, and will continue to do so. My lowest charge is 5k for facial alterations, with highest at 20k for breast enhancements. I will definitely charge something like 30K, at least to start, when the newest things come out.

I accept tips but I do not ask for them. If I don't get tipped it's fine. I do however get miffed if I spend a lot of time with someone: The client says, "I want that hair with the shoulder length and flip at the bottom." You say, "This one?" The client says, "No the one with the flip at the bottom." You say, "This one?" The client says, "No the other one." I went through all of the hairstyles on a human female last night looking for the one her friend had told her about which didn't seem to exist. She happily accepted the one I thought looked best on her and she apologized for being a pain, but still. I spent about 25-30 minutes with her, and it was interupting my pole dancing...

I'd likely adopt the old Theed Local pricing, adding the new content under the apropriate headings. (Maybe adding a 1.5-2.0 multiplier for new content)

Comments:

Funny enough when we organized Theed Local pricing (three of us a really long time ago) I was wanting to charge the least (1k per change) while the other two wanted to charge way more. We eventually settled on what's posted on Pani's site (1-4k per change). For the most part customers have been ok with it, occasionally someone will say I charge too much or too little People will still tip me over and above my charges if they can afford to and want to show extra appreciation. If I just take tips (which I sometimes do if I'm out running around) I typically get tipped 500 credits or something Running my little Tailor business is so time consuming that I really put high value on my time. I don't think I could get away with Lowca prices, but that's prob my own fault If my ID friends and I had set a high price list like Lady China did shortly after launch, even those getting tips would prob see big increases...rather thanthe usual 0 -1k credits(what I've seen anyway).

Neither - it's a time issue. I would charge by the length of time of the "session." A person can spend 40 minutes picking a lip color, while spending one minute on glitter.

I think average tips are deffinitely a server-issue. I've never once set a fee, and my average for tip-per-session comes out to roughly 4.5K. Sure, I've been stiffed, and I've gotten the 500cr tips…but I've also gotten the 100K tips, so it all kind of evens out. More or less. Hehe.

I had a price list when there were ... three other MIDs around. We all had the same prices so we wouldn't have people complainings. Now that I don't know any other MIDs, I just ask for a tip (and I don't need the credits as much as I used to!)

b) Use a price list, for the first time

I chose both because I am definitely going to have a set price for the new changes but continue to ask for tips for what we already have.

b) Your highest charge? (e.g. 2 million creditsforhair glitter) 10k

I go by how complex of a change it would be. 10k is the most I ever ask for (unless the person is a real jerk during his/her session )

Comments:

I'm not very keen on having unnaturally coloured species running around--so those changes are going to be a lot of credits ... with the RP reason that I ran out of body paint and now have to use markers.

C definatly, Perhaps B. I'm still thinking.

No comment at this time. I'll have to see what all the new changes, the new interface, etc entail before I can begin to form objective opinions about pricing.

Comments:

I think that most pricing is server dynamic on what the market will bear and what others are doing. Before I seriously consider adopting a price list and setting prices, I'd take the time to contact the other ID's that are listed on the sticky for my server and open discussions with them. Find out their thoughts and feelings on the matter and share mine. After, I would begin looking for other full time committed ID's on the server and widen the scope of the discusion to include them.

The reason I'd go with the sticky list first is that I know those specific people are serious enough about the profession to check here about what's going on and to be active (at least in some small part) in the cross server ID community as a whole.
