Will the tents do stuff without the need for an Image Designer present?

No, the devs love us too much to do something silly like that An Image Designer has to be present for anything to happen in the tent. There is no need to actually click on the terminal, simply be near it, inside the tent to use it.

Where are the tents?

Theed -5130 4260 (next to the cantina, visible from starport area)

Moenia 4790 -4730 (next to the starport, visible from cantina)

Bestine -1440 -3700 (back behind the cantina)

Coronet -360 -4690 (offof anybeaten path)

Vreni Island -5150 -6370 (next to the cantina)

Are they or will they be player city placeableand/or architect craftable?

We are told this will happen one day.

The tents' interiorslook a little stark...

The art for the tent was done very recently and the bare nature of the interiors is a direct result of our dev barely having enough time to place the tents and terminals before Publish 8 went to Test Center. He said we should consider Image Designers as being in a state of moving in to the tents and that they are still "under construction". Tent decor is coming with Publish 9.

Whatfunctionsdo the tents have??

Stat Migration - Players migrate their stats as normal but must visit an Image Designer in a tent to have the stats actually move. This is the only ID ability that is tied to the tents.

Timer Bonus - All ID changes are now set to a timer. The timer time is cut in half of ID takes place in a tent. Soon Master ID's will have no timer in the tent (coming in a hotfix).

What else came in the ID mini publish?

New User Interface - With a secure trade system, great lighting, a new special window for customers to see a before/after, zoom in ability for both customer and ID'er, easier to use interface in general.

Color palettes expanded - Palettes are expanded at Novice ID, each tier of the skill tree, and Master ID. Master ID's have256 colors in each palette.

Holo-Emotes- for all species, last a few seconds, various holograms including hearts, butterflies, and rebel/imperial insignias; type /holo help in game

Bald, Eye shape, and Male Zabrak/Twi'lek freckles -now adjustable in game.

Bug fixes - Many, many

When is everything granted?

Holo-emotes

Tied to Hairstyling, roleplay reason for how they function as stated by our dev: tiny little generators weaved into your hair or placed sub-dermally (under your skin) that need to recharge (hence the having to wait betw each triggering)

Hair I gives you: Beehive, Brainstorm, Imperial, Rebel

Hair II adds: Bubbles, Hologlitter, Holonotes, Sparky

Hair III adds: Bullhorns, Champagne, Technokitty, Phonytail

Hair IV adds: Blossom, Butterflies, Haunted, Hearts, and the All option

Color palettes

Novice Ent: old palettes

Novice ID: all palettes have 16x6 colors

Any Tier 1 box: all palettes you qualify forhave 16x8 colors

Any Tier 2 box: all palettes you qualify for have 16x10 colors

Any Tier 3 box: all palettes you qualify forhave 16x12 colors

Any Tier 4 box: all palettes you qualify forhave 16x14 colors

Master ID: all palettes have 16x16 colors (=256 colors)

Stat Migration

Novice ID on up

Exp

100 exp for cosmetic changes, 300 for physical changes, 600 for stat migration. Half of that if you ID yourself. At least one change must be made to get exp. The exp does not stack, so one cosmetic plus one body change results in 300 exp.

Timer

2 min for cosmetic changes, 5 mins for physical changes, 10 mins for stat migration.Times do not stack, greatest time takes effect.

How to do stat migration?

Player must first do it on their own as before, but they must thensee an ID for the changes to be activated. After a ten minute timers, the stats migrate instantly.

How to do holo-emotes

Type /holo help for instructions. There are 20 charges and you can only have one set of 20 at a time. Thirty seconds must elapse before the next holoemote charge is used.

I just stumbled into one.. looks cool. Just as long as these tents dont replace the need to hire ID's (even for particle effects)im all for it Maybe people need the assistance of ID's AND these machines to make those particle effects? Maybe a new money sink?

The Machines will need an IDer present to work, and I think it is very likely that they will do particle effects. Hopefully we will know for sure soon

Ok.. I am trying not to rant..but theres one thing I dont understand...Ok I understand having to get tents up and waiting for the mini publish..good things come to those who wait..BUT ..terminals?? Having to go here to do certain image things? How is that fair? or fun? How many of us have spents tons of time decorating our houses in hopes players will come to us. and now we all have to be crammed into one tent? And the fact that all other players travel everywhere to play the game missions, etc. ..I am Master Musician and Entertainer also and now with buffs taking even longer to apply. .I will never see the outside of a cantina or now a tent! lol Im sorry if I ranted , Im just trying to see what others feel about this.I know we shouldnt make assumptions but the way this game runs its hard not to feel likewe are getting royally screwed out of the game. I mean c'mon..isnt ANYONE a little shocked and upset?

Oh, there's about 4 pages of shocked and upset in the News Flash thread. Rest assured that you're not the only one that doesn't like the idea of being tied to a static structure only available in 5 cities.

Just got back from my visit to the ID Tent in Theed. My thoughts:

-The tent certainly drew a number of people towards and into it. It's unique, visible, and in a high-traffic area. The holographic spirals, especially, looked like something off of Coruscant in Clones.

-Most of the people were not looking for nor were interested in anyImage Design; they were just curious about the new building.

-A number of people assumed that the terminals would be usable by them without Image Designer help, and were disappointed when they learned otherwise. I assume this is because of their resemblance to Cloning Terminals which they use by themsleves. The terminals probably stood to be a unique design to avoid this.

-There should probably be more visible explanation to the average player that the tents aren't online yet. They'd have been better off not allowing entry until the mini-publish, since the newness of things will have worn off by then.

-The high amount of traffic did snare a few Image Design clients, but interacting with them became uncomfortable since there were so many people running through the tent and asking questions. If I communicated with the client via group chat like I normally do, I didn't even realize that anyone else was in the tent, which put off a few potential clients who thought we were either Line Down or ignoring them.

-The heavy trafficforced me to change the way I operated. I wasn't able to spend the time consulting with each client that I normally spend, which is the most enjoyable aspect of the profession for me, and which usually opens up avanues of change that were unknown to or unexpected by the client. I felt like a short-order cook instead of a gourmet, and that's not a good thing.

Yes, lots of people wandering in. Made a few friends in the process, and about $220k + or -, but in that range. I must have explained what the tents do a million times lol. Maybe have a system message appear to people when they enter, or have an NPC tell the person? Just a thought, but doubt that will happen between now and the mini. Oh well, can't wait till mini pub, i'll be swimming in credits!

well, I spent 10 minutes there trying to "use" it. I thought maybe I was lagging and couldn't get it to work. I finally gave up.

I guess I should have read the board before I do anything in game.

The outside of the Tent did look cool. I'm curious as what it will do.

What's going to happen in the tents??

Those details are still being ironed out so the entire function probably won't be revealed until the changes hit Test Center. There will be incentive for their use. None of our old abilities (including new colors)will be tied to the tent, but particle effects may be.

So "party effects" that will only last a short amount of time MAY need to be done in a tent thats only in 5 cities in the galaxy? I dont travel to do work, many ID's do not. Now i may have to go to laggy theed to ID? Booo

The tents could allow a Master Image Designer to work for no mind cost, that would be a really nice use for them but still allows an image designer to work where she (or he) wants.

If we HAD to do certain effects in a tent, every ID in the galaxy would be sitting in one of 5 locations, but mostly likely in 2 (Coronet and Theed).

Please please please dont make the tents a requirement to gain access to certain image design functionality. Allow the tens to have a bonus such as free mind cost but allow an image desgner to work without one. If there IS a requirement to use the tent there had better be a droid with an Image Designer Module to let us work around that.

Yesterday I spent 14 hours in my workshop filling new droid orders with almost no contact with actual people, and my chatbox was still full of "What's that tent do?"

Thankfully, now I can say the official answer is, I don't know, rather than just me not knowing

Kwee,

Can you confirm that if the "expanded Color palettes" will only effect IDers and not character creation?

I assume that character creation will not get the expanded Color palettes, but it would be nice to know for sure.
