Thread: Things I *don't* want to see for IDs

Actually this is a very interesting question to ask, too. Since SOE and LA got their onw ideas of what they don't want, why shouldn't we players ask ourselves this question, too?

So what do you not want to see for IDs?

PLLLLLEEEEAAAASSEEE I'm begging you, don't allow us to take Jedi off the terms. This is the only thing I care about. Everything else that follows is not nearly as important to me.

I agree that we shouldn't be able to do gender changes - despite the fact that it's more realistic than species changes, it is infinitely more disturbing - along with the whole 'enlarged package' thing Metricula thought of.

And yet, for some odd reason, I like the idea of being able to change a toon's species. Maybe if it was a holoemote thing, that lasted a week? I don't know, but I like the idea. Plus it would give us a much larger amount of business.

I will be thoroughly disgusted if ents are changed to no SPC. In that case, why not just remove us from the game?

I think that we should be able to make someone's skin purple. But the key word here is: TEMPORARY. It shouldn't be something they can have forever. Once again, kinda like a holo, lasts a bit longer, but not forever. TBH, tho, I don't really care about this. I'm a Twi'lek MID, so I can already be purple, or orange, or pink, or bright green. /shrug

I do not want to see Image designers called upon for/to be:

Armor/Clothing/Items colorization/dyejobs

'hide the jedi'

tacked to the salon

name/species/gender 'fixer'

hmm..

basically anything that does not include the personalization of looks for our ingame toons..

that's looks and toons only

I know what I don't want, but I was wondering what other people don't want to see happen to IDs. Here's my top 5, in no particular order:

1.Species changes

2. Gender changes

3. Full color palettes for all species for all variables

4. Zero SPC for entertainer skills

5. A "package" ID slider for males

Species changes: This is something I posted somewhere else, but it's what I think.

It's the logistics of species changes that make it undesirable, besides the fact it's just unrealistic. When you change species, your "species feature" bonuses would have to change as well. Changing species to get convenient bonuses is pretty close to "cheating." If you change yourself into a Mon Cal, do you suddenly get smarter? It wouldn't make sense to disable the bonuses for species changes to avoid these problems. You'd wind up with weak Wookiees, Transdoshans gifted for dancing, and Mon Cal who hit hard. It would completely destroy the point of species bonused in the first place. Aesthetics are another issue.Say you'resick of the Sullustan and wantto play a Twi'lekthat's easier on the eyes--of course, you don't want to re-grind all of the skills. Grinding can get tedious, so that's understandable. However, you can't have it both ways. That's the game. I think it's great that species and gender changes are not allowed. IfI want to try out playing new species, I make a character on another server. You get ten slots.

Gender changes: This one isn't as important to me as species, but I firmly believe if you want to change something fundamental about your character you should have to reroll. If you want to try playing a different gender, test it out onanother server.

Full color palettes for all species for all variables: Here I just mean I don't think all the eye-colors should also be available for skin colors. I don't want to see a bunch of purple people running around. That's just break immersion because it'd be over-represented.

Zero SPC for entertainer skills: There's been no actual talk of this, but there's a huge discussion on the Dancer forums and it scares me how many people support this. I also play a dancer, and I take pride in the fact I've "studied" to become a master. Level 80 combat people would not have had the time to "practice" dancing. Also, that would bring back even more entertainers wearing armour while they dance.

Package sliders: I just had an image of a rogue ID spamming something like "Is YOURwang big enough? PST if interested in enlarging your man-meat"

I don't want anything to do with Jedi visibility or Jedi period for that matter. I don't want anything that provides any enhancement thats not purely cosmetic in nature. Anything else would get us hounded needlessly by combat people. It would cause far more pain than pleasure.

Maybe I missed the thread about what this board DOES want, but is sure doesn't seem like you are leaving much out there. I for one support giving IDs most of the abilities that are being rejected here (I will not go through what I do support, but it is pretty much all of them). Everyone is capable of doing or not doing anything that they feel like, and while it would be tasteless for someone to run around talking about package size all day, it would be just as easy to /addignore.

Here is an middle of the road idea for gender/species changes. What if we could only make these drastic changes on Smugglers or for other skills who might actually benefit in a RP in-game kind of way. And then only make it last for a specified time. Or as someone suggested make it like a holo-emote that anyone could use (for a shorter period of time) for costume parties, etc.

Heck, even in the OTHER Star tv/movie world (trek) they would surgically alter their appearance and look like another species. With flying cars and droids in every closet, SWG should be able to accomodate such a thing.

You maybe should have a look at the stickes at this board... 2 Threads about ideas and wishes up there alone...
