There's only really one reason I love ID (keeping in mind that I don't do stat migrations at all, ever) : it's entirely aesthetic and artistic. Making myself and the people that come to me look and feel better is fun.
Edit to fit Kwee's requested format:

1. It is a social profession allowing to interact with a lot of other players
2. It is an artistic challenge to get the image in the way the client desires
3. Little is more rewarding then a client who is exhilerated about her/his new looks
4. As I am still newer to the job: You actually get to do something differently as every client has different wishes
5. All in all: It is great fun.

1/ Lets me socialize which hard for me to do in a normal group format, because I rarely know when or how long I will be able to play.
2/ Lets me express/show-off my artistic side
3/ID makes me feel good because I'm improving the game experience for other players
4/ It's a very nice andenjoyable change from my combat characters
5/ self-IDing issimply ...FUN!!!

1/ I love how I can alter every thing or even just one thing about a person's appearance, and it makes them and me both happy.
2/ I love how I don't have to make/buy/use/own materials or tools to do my profession.
3/ I love how I can do ID anywhere, anytime (except stat migrations).
4/ I love how I can change my own or other's appearances to match an outfit, a mood, a profession's"look." (ex: Bounty Hunter that looks like the Grim Reaper or a Chef that looks like Santa.)
5/ I love how ID is truly a collaborative effort between two people. We created something together. You can't help but to get to know each customer's personality, a little bit. I cherish each one as a collection of memories. Which is what I love most about being an ID. Social interaction.

1/ The TIMER! LOVE IT! And no, it's not sarcasm. Finally a implementation that doesn't make my profession a joke. Thank YOU devs! <kisses and huggs>
2/ The ability to make people look different is what appealed to me day one. We dont need stat mitigation power, just more power to degin better!
3/ Social interaction
4/ It's not a common profession. I like being one of few on my server, I stand out, and look unique. Which is what image design is about, making people stand out and look unique. In fact theres more active jedi on Wanderhome than there are active image designers. That unto itself makes me feel proud to be an image designer. Keep the profession difficult to master and only the truely dedicated are rewarded.
5/ It is not "dumbed" down like the rest of the game. You actually need talent and a brain to be an image designer. Remembering client's past designs truely separates the talent from the rookiee. In fact I was almost appauled by the "revert" command in the UI, but I understand the need for hologrinders to have something in case they screw up without having to end the session.

1/ It is truly the most original profession I've ever seen in any game thus far.
2/ It provides great balance the overall community in the game.
3/ The ID community is one of the most tightly knit groups and is graced by some of the most professional and helpful people in the game.
4/ When a customer comes to you having absolutely no idea what they want done making statements such as "Make me pretty" and leave your care feeling happy.
5/ It's just plain fun.

1: I love nothing more than an interactive customer.
2: Lacking any free-hand artistic skills, ID allows me to express creativity using pre-defined variables as a work around.

I just got off of work from my first day at the new job, and my head hurts. I will edit this when I am in a condition to so as to add the other three...

1/ I love a challenge when a customer comes up and says something like "make me look like Snoop Dog"
2/ I love being able to change my look to match my outfits
3/ I love being able to change my look to match different roleplaying things I am doing
4/ I love it when a customer says "Wow, this is great!" and walks away excited about how they look
5/ I love meeting new people and socializing with them, making new friends over a new haircut or a nose job

1/ I love seeing what a change does to a customer's appearance
2/ I love being able to modify my own characters' appearance
3/ I love the artistic challenge of being given free rein to make a customer "look good"
4/ I love interacting with those customers who come in looking for REAL ID work (as opposed to stat migrations)
I can't think of anything else to add. These four items pretty much sum it up for me.

Well,I can't think of five reasons, because my number one reason is the only reason I do it...
1. I love the ability to create unique & good looking characters, & the ID abilities we have in SWG (even with all it's flaws) is the best I've seen in any game to date.

2/ I love working on women, hairs, make up....
3/ When people come to really change with fun and take his time to choose, it s great
4/ I love when she/he is happy with the result
5/ It s not a common job, i hope that it ll keep only those which really like it

- I love matching my hair/tattoo/eyes/make up to whatever I am wearing (currently I am a hot pink Zabrak, and people are always sending me the nicest tells complimenting me)
- I love people coming into the tent and calling me brave/insane for doing ID post-patch (lol seriously, it leads to some fun convos!!)
- I love people telling me "make me hot" or "make me ugly" and letting me get all creative on their tushies!
- I love catching up on some reading while waiting for the timer. (Not kidding, I read most of Gone With the Wind and it's sequal so far)
- I love getting to use my secret love of making people over in a game (yeah, my parents would never let me be a beautician... it was off to college for an English degree for me...)
