Thread: Which professions are needed?

I've been gone a year and I get the impression that some of the initial professions (like medic) are no longer needed because higher level professions fill the need.

Are any of the novice professions useful for anything? I'd like to pick something but don't want my old experience to lead me into picking something that has become a dead-end while I've been gone.

thanks for the help

Having at least novice medic for using stim Bs is still very useful. With buffs, it won't always be necessary, but it is good to have. being able to use stim Ds is real nice for high end PvE like nightsisters. As far as the other novice profs are concerned, marksman and brawler are just used as a means to get to an elite combat prof (which is essential unless you're a crafter). Master brawler is VERY useful if you're a melee type. Scout isn't that important unless you have the extra skill points to pick up some terrain negotiation or you like to hunt for creature resources.

Just some thoughts, I hope this answers your question to some extent.

Stormbilly summed it up. I am a master brawler, and it is an amazing profession to master. With Intimidate 2, I get a knockdown for each melee class (I am a master fencer/TKM also, so the fencer knockdown helps me alot, since I wouldnt normally have one). Marksman needs some fixing, seems like you would only master that if you intend to do commando or BH. Artisan can build vehicles at master. I do not know if master entertainer is any useful. But novice medic gives you the nice ability to heal when needed.
