They don't have mail in EQ2, and no they don't show in your friends list, but you will see if they go on and offline.

For those who haven't heard this yet, you can send tells to people logged onto EQ2.
The command is /tell eq2.[EQ2 server name].[EQ2 player name] [message]
For example, /tell eq2.oasis.spongebob yo man

it don't only work for EQ2 though.. it works for EQ1 as well, and EQ players can sendSWG players tells also..
/tell eq2.server.name
/tell swg.server.name
/tell eq.server.name
addfriends also work using this method..
/addfriend eq2.server.name
/addfriend swg.server.name
/addfriend eq.server.name
ditto /addignore..
for those who get tired of typing up all that, here's a tip: aliases..
for example, I have a friend on EQ2 server called Bonhomme named Asgarth.. (just an example.. no such server or player name)
I would get tired of typing /tell eq2.bonhomme.asgarth after the first couple times, especially when in tell hells, so I make an alias for him..
in spatial type this only once..
/alias asgarth /tell eq2.bonhomme.asgarth
then from now on, when I want to talk to Asgarth, I would only have to type /asgarth.. for example:
/asgarth heya mate! whats up?
that alias will be permanent until you remove it from alias.txt in your SWG folder.. you will not need to reset your alias everytime you relog or even change accounts or server.. that alias is for anyone who plays SWG on the computer you set it up on.
enjoy =)

EQ2 Mail is on their test server now. And you can mail items to other people. It costs money(like a stamp) to send a message to anyone and you can only read mail at designated mailboxes. I don't think this will work across games though. (EQ2->SWG->EQ2)
