Hey all, got a couple of queries with the harvesting droids and for some reason the most recent info I can find on an advanced search is from April and not answering my questions (maybe the search is just buggy for me today)

Any help greatly appreciated in answering the following questions;

1] Is it possible for me to manually harvest and have my droid harvest from the same corpse?

2] Does the droid's harvest depend purely on its rating or also on my scout / ranger skills?

I.E. I have hunting 3 and I have veghash. Will I be better or the droid (assuming both can't harvest)? Will veghash affect the droid's harvest?

3] Depending on the answers to the above as to whether or not I use the droid, where can I find details on how to set up a macro for droid harvesting?

Thanks in advance for your help,

1) No.. one or the other, not both.

2) Both your personal Harvesting abilities & the droids contribute to it's effectiveness. Veghash helps too.

1. NO. One or the other can harvest, but not both.

2. The bonus you obtain from eating Veghash will STACK with the bonus you get from using a droid to harvest for you. I don't know the exact formula, but using a good harvester droid with Veghash gets you the most hides per kill. I believe in the Droid Engineer boards, there is a formula shown in their FAQ. Basically, it's a percentage bonus, that slowly decreases as you increase in skill. Still, as Master Ranger, the bonus is enough to use the droid for every harvest when I'm on a job.

3. Use the droid. You won't be dissappointed. Here are a few more facts. I am a Rifleman, so when I kill at range, I can immediately send the droid in to harvest while I work on killing the next creature. The creatures, even if agro, will not attack the droid (I keep him ungrouped) when he harvests. Beware, if they incap or slay you, however, they will go after the droid. This only happened once to me, and the droid was so fast, he didn't get touched. When I recovered from incap, he was 750m away, so I just stored him, set up camp, and recalled. As for a Macro, mine is very simple..../tellpet Skinner Harvest!

Thanks a lotfor the quick replies Yeraze & Calamari

So the droid has it's own command for each harvest? e.g. "skinner harvest" "bone harvest" whatever and i can just set up a /tellpet macro to do so? Fantastic!!!

Time to give it a whirl.

thanks for all the input.

In case anyone is interested one thing to add having spent a few hours going at it with "Harvey" (my new friend in the form of a harvesting droid ). The group reduction on harvest amount does apply to droids too. I've always rather hated that little rule, most of all when just two of you are hunting together, but there we go!

I don't group my harvester droid with me. Try it with both of you solo.

Harvester droids have two special commands in the radial menu (I don't think there's a /command to configure either). The first sets the type of resource to harvest: bone, hide, meat, or random. The second programs the verbal command to trigger the harvest of whatever resource was set with the first option.

So if you're hunting avian meat, you set up the droid for "meat", and program a command "harvest" the same way you program any other command. After killing the target, just do a "/tellpet harvest" or "/tellpet {droid name} harvest" while you have the corpse targeted, and it wanders over to the corpse and gets the resource, even if you're still in combat. You can't switch resource types on the fly.

Harvesting modules have a rating, top end is around 110. I believe this means that the droid extracts 110% of what you would get (taking all yourharvesting skill mods, clothing bonuses, and veghash into account). If the droid has a storage module, the resources go into that (saving you some inventory space). If it runs out space in the storage module (or if it doesn't have one) the resource stack goes into your inventory.

I don't believe that droids are currently effected by the 40% group harvest reduction, although I haven't used one since the modules went Live. When they were first on TC, they did trigger the reduction, so it kind of sucked.

Ah - you made me realise where my last post may have been a bit unclear.

yeah hunting solo with the droid ungrouped was fine - normal harvest.

Hunting grouped with a buddy, but with both of our droids ungrouped - group reduction.
