Thread: Defense idea for combat revamp, to make things more simple

Hi everyone. I've been in game for about a year, and to be honest as far as defenses go it's pretty messy. So I have thought hard, and considered all the possible outcomes from the idea I'm am presenting to you now. I would like to say first, and formost that I would like to have some good feedback, with honest opinions on this idea. NO FLAMING.

The Idea ...

Instead of characters receiving defenses based on thier profession. They would from now on recieve an amount of "SKILL POINTS" depending on race of coarse, that would be spent on defenses only. The range of points would go from a modest amount for Humans, being that they are the most well rounded of all the races choosable, to generous for Wookies, being that our furry friends are known as being not only powerful, but hard to take down even without armor.

The catch ...

When you create your character, if you choose to start the game as a crafter, entertainer, or a medic. You would not receive the option to choose defenses. Why leave them out do you ask? Because they are not combat professions, thus, why would they be proficiant in defending themselves?

Also, the amount of Skill points I have devised would start at about 250 points for Humans, and 350 for Wookies.

The Chart ...

Below I have given a basic chart, to describe point costs, vs. defenses recieved.

State Defenses : cost of 2 to 1

Ranged, and Melee defenses : cost of 1 to 1

Posture Change Defenses : cost of 2 to 1

Why would this make things simpler, and how if in the event we changed our minds, or changed profession types from the non combat, to the combat related would we either recieve, or re alocate our points?

It's very simple actually. If you go to any trainer such as a brawler, or marksmen trainer, and you choose to learn novice. After you pay your credits, the trainer will prompt you to choose " Would you like to alocate your defensive points at this time ( insert characters name ). You would then have the option to alocate half of your races defensive skill points, and once you have mastered a hybrid, or advanced profession i.e tk, pistoleer, or rifleman etc. You will then be offered a second chance to re allocate, as well as receive the remainder of your points to spend.

The idea is a good one I think, and I will agree with anyone that such an idea needs fine tuning so that it remains fair, and fun for everyone. As we are all in this game together. come up with your suggestions, submit them to our community leaders. It's the only way we will ever get anything done to make this game a possitive environment for all to enjoy.
