Hello All!

After a super serious sports injury and few other "events", I have been inspired back yet again. "Hi, my name is Jinook and I'm a SWG-aholic". Oh well, I guess you can run but you cant hide. I have been trying to catch up bewteen a million posts, Wookie Life Days to Raging Wookies, Uber Imps and the CU. I have palyed the same basic template for awhile, and would like your thoughts. With what has been posted on the CU in mind, lets pretend that YOU have decided (post CU ) to becomethe ultimateUber Imp soldier or the ultimate Uber Rebel solidier. What templates sound fun with all the changes WE THINK will happen post CU? I am still not getting, for example, the role def mods will play post CU by profession?

Options:

*Master Carbineer, Master TK, Novice Commando (for the launcher), Dirty Fighting 1 (for Feighn) = Barely ok def mods, fun weapon choices, versatile, healing & faking death

*Master Pistoleer, Master Fencer, TK 4-3-0-0 (meditations + def mods), Smuggler 2-0-1-0 (faction perks, plus feign = Solid def mods, some weapon choices, versatile reb perks

So ladies and gents, you are now free to build the Ultimate Uber post CU soldier. What is looking good these days?

We don't know yet.

And those that can tell us are still under the NDA not to tell what they know.

Uhhh, hopefully the CU will do away with these "Uber" templates that give one person much more of an advantage over another...

EVERY PLAYER in the game has a template. Everyone. Even you, protector of Counselor Solo. We all spend 250 skills points eventually, and when we do so... Tah Dah... our template. And than there is the word "Uber" that you zeroed in on like a sniper hunting its prey. Sad. Ok, how about the phrase, what sounds fun or sounds cool? This post, as titled, asks a hypothetical - just for the fun of it. My current template (Master Sword, Master Fencer, Master Brawler, TK Mystic, Medic) certainly could be considered a stacker template. Problem is... I rarely PvP, less than 5%. But I do personally enjoy building fun templates and testing them PvE. And that IS ALL this post is about. Fun.

after the CU, no template will be better than any other.

I would sure as hell hope that isn't the truth or I will be very disappointed, you try and tell me a fencer/medic who can fight and heal them selves wouldn't be anybetter then a fencer/tailor? If somebody put everything they could be into being a soldier and someone say only used 100 skillpoints, I would hope that one would be better then the other... Also intelligently building a "template" is one of the things that makes this game great, that very few others have. One definate problem is that so many combinations that should work well together don't and others completely destroy them: point in case def stacking. If you simply mean more combinations will be able to be effective in different ways... that is acceptable. Not that templates would be obsolete.

Now if we want to be on topic, I was having a bit of fun with this and I thought this would be a fun one with the guesses flying around about lowered buffs and armor:

I always liked smuggler, and the idea that sliced weapons will be so much more complicated and need continual updates this sounded like a fun way to keep yourself in top gear.

Master Pistoleer (duh, with smug its a bit of a given), Master Smuggler, (here is normally TK, but if def stacking goes down... it doesn't really bother me) Scout 4-0-0-0 (the terrain negotiation would be nice, especially ifyou believethat ranged profs will most likely not be wearing heavy armor, this would let you keep away from your enimies easier), Medic 4-2-0-0 (maybe reversed, but it would let you have some nice heals to throw out, usefull if you take more damage)

Now it isn't very efficient on skill points, but messing around with conjecture about the CURB, and how fighting used to be before buffs and armor (medic was eviiil), it sounds like fun =).

I have takena few guess on what i want and its definitly a ranged class with all the new weapons.

Pre-Cu veteran returning to the game he loves. SWG I thought NGE was a disaster but I think you might have something going for you. Give it time to develop.

Well, I just wanted to answer one point about the original post. Feign Death has been rendered useless in PvP. People can now incap and deathblow you while you are feigned. It's still good for PvE, but it sounds like you're designing more of a PvP template.

Personally, I play mostly PvE, but I've been having a lot of fun with a Carbine and some BH Carbine skills. Nasty dizzy and knockdowns and decent rate of fire and range. The killer is the HAM costs. With the CU that will be better since it will just drain a sort of "specials bar" for that stat rather than killing you by taking away your primary HAM.

It's tough to play ranged after getting a taste of the good melee defenses of any Melee profession, but I find it more fun. I'm only hoping that the CU balances ranged and melee a little more as melee is almost always better than ranged at the moment. (withvery few exceptions to the rule)

Some of my pet peeve bugs:
•Armorsmith protection layers were not converted with the CU.
•Ship Details window does not close when you click "Travel" resulting in the message "You have lost the target. Closing interface."
