First off, I should tell you my skills and professions...
Rifleman 0100
Marksman 4001
Architect 4213
Merchant 3214
Artisan 4040
Medic 2101
Alliance Recruit 1111
Skill Points Available: 46
Despite being an Architect and Merchant, the maximum amount of money I've ever had is 450k credits, and that is w/o spending anything for 3-4 days. Now I'm barely bringing in 10,000 credits a day from my vendors. Even though I have plenty of fountains, statues, furniture, loot, houses, etc... And despite they are located very close to Cnet.
I have two accounts, my other account I just started and it is
Brawler 2000
Medic 0100
Scout 0100
I also have 2 Mineral Harvesters, 1 Personal Harvester, A Medium House, A Structure Factory, a small turret, and 7 Vendors.
As you can see, my income is outweighed by my expenses. I have just 300k on this account and 30k on the other account. Still, with just an income of 5k-10k per day.
Can any1 tell me what I'm doing wrong or what other professions I should shoot for? Thank You.

Making money is difficult now since almost everyone has an alt, solo groups were nerfed, missions don't pay nearly enough, and there are so many vendors around Coronet that finding the right one should qualify you for a badge.
So in closing, just try to advertise your shop using a droid at the Coronet Starport once you get Advertising 4 so people will notice and get the waypoint from it so they don't have to go swimming through the myriad vendors blanketing the landscape.

Well for pilot I go and do station duty missions to make mad cash. My personnal favorite is the Yavin 4 Station. If you talk to him for the first time it starts out as a cool story mission. After you complete the story mission he gives out regular duty missions. The basic enemies you encounter are tier 2 Debris cultist fighters. This is where its wave after wave come at you with steadily increasing numbers. Starts off as wave 1 with 1 fighter wave 2 with 2 fighters etc. With something like 8-10 waves per group. The group is a specific WP they will emerge from when the station master gives you missions. Then every 3 or 4 groups there is a "mini boss" of one or two tier 3 fighters. By the time you finish the mission I have upwards of 100-150k of credits not including the looted credits that become the credit disk in your inventory. Also if you have a inventory full of space parts go sell the crappy ones to the chassis dealer in the starports. When all is said and done I can make close to 300k+ in a single run. This is after I RE parts to so in the long run if you don't have the parts RE you could make a whole lot more.
I started this money run some time after I hit tier 3 with my x-wing. These baddies are really easy and slow plus its in an easy sector so you won't have to worry too much about nasty random spawns ruining the party. There are plenty of ways to make a good credit out there just finding the one you like the most is the key.

with two accounts, have one craft only toon and one combat toon.
Dont mix combat and crafting with the luxury of two toons.

I started out very similar to where your at now. Then I created the 2nd account. Like it was stated before, take one of your characters, and master combat professions. Use the other to be a crafter ONLY. Reasons are simple. As a master combat, you can go for the higher paying missions (even with the solo nerf), and work on getting loot to sell. As a master crafter, you quality on the items you sell will be better. You can concentrate on each character doing different things. I've even gone as far to make a ranger to help harvest meat I need. That's something you can do to make money too. Take your main character a master combat profession, and a scout/ranger. I know there are always docs, BEs, and chefs needing organic resources.
Basically concentrate your characters on specific skills. The more you specialize, the better your products will be. Also you MUST advertise. Either do it in game, or on the trade forums.

i agree on the combat/craft part ... have craft and merchant on one toon and combat on the other ... will make it easier for you ... as for what makes money ... well like others have said .. right now the economy on all servers is going through a change ... that still has several months ahead of us before some start to see a difference ...
running JTL missions is one way of making good credits ... (good enough to cover cost for weapons, armor, buffs .. and upgrades to ship from time to time) ... other then that ... some missions are limited to 10k max payout on the ground .. most being lower then that ...
for a template for the combat one this is what i would reccomend ...
scout 1020 (to help you with getting up some hills and allow you to harvest items from creatures .. another possible income)
medic 2430 (so you can stop bleeds when you get them, and use stim B's to keep yourself healed... you can fight this way for a while without buffs and with limited armor)
Teris Kasi Master (cheapest weapons in the game, and good damage output .. plus other skills that can help you a lot while fighting)
Master Rifleman (good ranged damage, esp once you find some good weapons... just dont buy the first high damage ones you find shop around)
this would leave you with 1 skill point left over .. but give you a good overall template with two different fight styles for you to decide between ... once you see which you like better you can drop the other and free up those points to use elsewhere ...
------------------------
for the crafting char ..
Master Merchant
Master Artisian
get those two for sure ... then you will have enough points to get one more master artisian type skill ... it is really up to you ... and depends on how much time you want to dedicate to finding resources to make things ... if you dont want to have to deal with finding resources that are always the best quality ... then Architect or Tailor would be a good choice .. both of them may not always sell well .. less you do real good advertising for your shop ... but it will keep a constant income in for you ... esp once people get familiar with your shop and know that you keep it stocked ... (you could also place a vendor to sell looted items in the shop to .. those can normally draw nice crowds .. that may buy other stuff while there) ...
Chef requires a lot of quality goods .. plus harvested goods .. and a Bio Engineer friend .. to really make anything with it .. so it is hard for a new person to start out on and make money right away ... same with weaponsmith and armorsmith .. but it all boils down to which one you would enjoy doing the most ... figure that out .. then stick with that one ...
