My guild leader said it worked for him but I tried it and I didnt see too much of a difference.

I really doubt it. You turn you sound on and off in your computer game options. The game will still send you the same abount of code wether it is on or not since you are turning your sound off localy.....

Then again, I could be wrong.

Unless what you are experiencing is not lag but just computer bog down, then yes turning your sound off to save system resources does help on that aspect.
