Back when EQ2 launched, i noticed a few chat channels created under Wanderhome that were made via EQ2 and EQ2 players. I was wondering if anyone knew how i can join a wanderhome chat channel via starsider, and vice versa.

actually, no, it doesn't work. I have tried typing in /chatRoom join swg.Wanderhome.chat.val and nothing happens. It is a public chat channel too. I have also attempted that macro thing, that that didn't work either. it just ran the little connection status, jpilot thingies, nothing else. Even with the default settings nothing worked.

I tried to check if the game recognized the chat channel, so i did the /chatRoom who swg.Wanderhome.chat.val and it said that the chat channel did not exist on that server.

first of all i have to say, that i haven't tried to connect to another servers chat yet. So i am not absolutly sure that it will work.

But i think you just tried to connect to the wrong chat (or one that don't exist). When you manually create a chat in swg using the macro command, you can use an adress like:

/chatRoom create swg.Corbantis.chat.CityMiragon;

If you use the User Interface to create a chat room, it is usually placed in a 'generic subnode'. To find out which your chatrooms adress is, do the following.

  • Log into your Wanderhome account

  • right-click on one of your chatTabs

  • select joinChannel

  • You'll get a tree displayed, with 'chat' as parent node i think

  • click through the nodes, till you find your chatRoom ( something like chat -> public -> 998473 -> Val )

Now you have the relational path from Wanderhome server ( chat.public.998473.Val ). For the absolute path from any server you need to put swg.<ServerName> in front. The command will be:

/chatRoom join swg.Wanderhome.chat.public.998473.Val;

Make sure that the chatRoom is public or your character have been invited to the chatRoom. According to the syntax the moderator should be able to invite you to a private chatroom by typing:

/chatRoom invite swg.<ServerName>.<PlayerName>;
